      Wade: “Miami is in the driver’s seat.”

      Dwyane Wade appeared on the “Mike & Mike” show and reiterated his desire to re-sign with the Heat.

      “Chicago is my home city, and I love Chicago,” Wade said. “But my heart is here in Miami.

      “All the cards are in Miami, and it’s their game to lose, more than anything. I appreciate that organizations want me to be a part of them, but right now Miami is in the driver’s seat.”

      A couple of things to note here: 1) Wade seems pleased with the play of the Heat over the last month of the season. Even if they had an easy schedule, they took care of business and went into the postseason as one of the hottest teams in the league. Whether or not they lose to Boston may not matter. 2) Wade mentions the Bulls, but he doesn’t mention the Knicks. I don’t know the context of his response, but he does mention Chicago and doesn’t mention any other team save for the Heat.

      It sounds to me that if Miami is able to sign a sidekick (Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer) then Wade is likely to re-sign.

      Ubaldo Jimenez throws first no-hitter in Rockies’ history

      The Rockies have always felt that Ubaldo Jimenez was special. On Saturday night, he proved them right by taking his place in the club’s 18-year history.

      Jimenez recorded the first no-hitter in Rockies’ history in a 4-0 victory over the Braves. He allowed no runs on no hits while striking out seven batters over a masterful 128-pitch effort. He did walk six batters, but something as trivial as that can easily be overlooked on such an amazing night. The 26-year-old flamethrower was so on that he even hit 98-mph on the radar gun in the ninth inning.

      Perhaps what’s most impressive about Jimenez’s no-no is what team he accomplished the feat against. The Braves don’t have the Phillies’ lineup, but they’re not the Astros either. Jimmenez had to face Nate McLouth, Martin Prado, Chipper Jones and Brian McCann four times each, not too mention top prospect Jason Heyward three times. Entering Saturday’s game, McCann, Heyward and Prado were all hitting over .300, while Prado was even hitting over .440. Jimenez faced a couple of hot hitters and still managed to pitch nine hitless-innings.

      All and all, it was a special night for a young man that will now be etched in Rockies history forever.

      Report: Albert Haynesworth looking to be traded during draft

      According to a report by the Washington Post, Albert Haynesworth is planning to skip the Redskins’ voluntary minicamp this weekend and will only report to mandatory minicamp in June.

      But here’s the kicker: Haynesworth is also upset about the team’s plan to use him as a nose tackle in their new 3-4 defensive alignment and is hoping to be traded during the draft next week.

      Haynesworth is frustrated about the Redskins’ plans to use him as a nose tackle in their new 3-4 defense, and the eight-year veteran hopes to be traded during the three-day draft that begins next Thursday. On Saturday, General Manager Bruce Allen said he was not disappointed about Haynesworth doing his own thing because “it’s voluntary.”

      As the article notes, owner Daniel Snyder shelled out a record $100 million contract that included a then-record $41 million in guaranteed money when he signed Haynesworth last offseason. One would think that the least Haynesworth could do is be a leader and show up to the team’s first organized workout, whether the camp is voluntary or not.

      But that’s the day and age we live in. Even though a player is making a ridiculous amount of money, he feels as though he’s bigger than the team. Don’t want to play in a specific scheme? No problem, just bitch about it and don’t show up. Instead of embracing his new role or at the very least, showing up so that his coaches can walk him through their plans for utilizing him, Hanyesworth would rather be traded.

      Hopefully he rots in Washington. He followed the dollar signs there last offseason, so he should have to honor his commitment and play hard. But chances are, the Redskins will never see a good return on their investment and Haynesworth will wind up being yet another bad signing in a long history of bad signings by Snyder.

      Nadal to take on Verdasco in Monte Carlo final

      Rafael Nadal is playing his typical best during the clay court portion of the ATP Tour. He embarrassed David Ferrer in straight sets today in Monaco and hasn’t been bothered by his knees. He will compete for a sixth straight Monte Carlo Masters title tomorrow against Fernando Verdasco.

      From ESPN.com:

      It will be the first all-Spanish final at Monte Carlo since Juan Carlos Ferrero beat Carlos Moya in 2002. Verdasco has lost all nine matches against Nadal, who will be aiming for his first title since beating Djokovic on clay last May at the Rome Masters.

      Nadal has won 31 successive matches in Monaco. Verdasco has won four titles in his career to 36 for Nadal.

      “This year I think I am playing much better because I am running a little bit better,” Nadal said. “I am playing more aggressive. That’s very important.”

      Nadal had lost his two previous semifinals, to Andy Roddick and Ivan Ljubicic on hard courts in Masters events at the Sony Ericsson Open and BNP Paribas Open.

      “It’s very important for me to be in this final,” Nadal said. “I played a very good match today. I was a little bit more nervous than usual because I lost two semifinals in a row.

      “Verdasco has always had amazing potential. If he is focused mentally, his shots are unbelievable.”

      I wish the Tour had better coverage so I could catch this match. The Tennis Channel is carrying it, and while I’d love to see how Rafa looks in the weeks leading up the French Open, I’ll save my money in this instance. Plus, it’s nearly a forgone conclusion that Nadal nabs the title as he holds a 9-0 record against Verdasco and is playing on his favorite surface.

      Morgan a lock at No. 12 to the Dolphins?

      According to Dolphins beat writer Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post, Georgia Tech defensive end Derrick Morgan will “100 percent” be Miami’s pick at No. 12 in next week’s draft if he’s available.

      Many draft pundits speculated that the Dolphins would select Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant at No. 12 before the team acquired Brandon Marshall from the Broncos earlier this week. But with their need at receiver filled, the Fins can now concentrate on adding a pure pass rusher.

      After racking up 19.5 sacks (including 12.5 last season) while playing at Georgia Tech the past three years, Morgan is highly regarded as the best pass rusher in this year’s draft. While he lacks pure athleticism, speed and overall quickness, he exhibits good instincts, awareness, and has a non-stop motor. He was highly productive in college and has an outstanding work ethic, which is probably why Bill Parcells and the Dolphins are drawn to him.

      Unless the Seahawks select him at No. 6 or the Jaguars target him at No. 10, Morgan should be on the board when the Dolphins pick at No. 12.
