Scores Report Interview with Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson Mr. Clean

Who knows more about staying clean than New York Jets running back Chris Johnson? One of the fastest players in NFL history, Johnson knows all about bursting through holes untouched and unsullied by opposing defenders.

We spoke to him about his partnership with Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser, how it feels to run a 4.24 40-yard dash and his monster 2009 season.

CJ2K! How is Mr. Clean doing these days?

“He’s pretty good. You gotta keep your whips and your clothes clean, and Mr. Clean is all about that.”

I made a mistake the other day. I bought these really nice white Polo shoes – low cut, crisp, the kind you wear without socks. I was looking good. That night, I had an unfortunate incident with a mud puddle on the way home. Guess who was there for me when I needed him the next day?

“Mr. Clean! The Magic Eraser does the trick, every time, especially with white clothes. It’s easy to get dirty and the Magic Eraser makes it easy to clean up.”

You’ve got six TD runs of over 80 yards in your career. The next closest players only have three. How do you account for that?

“It isn’t just one thing. It has to do with everything: vision, speed, once you get out in the open not getting caught, being able to make people miss. On top of that, you’ve got to have your offensive line and the receivers blocking for you downfield. There is a lot to be aware of.

What’s your favorite play: a toss sweep, a trap or what?

“Stretch play. Because it gives you a couple different holes to choose from and there’s always a cutback lane.”

Is there a run in your career that is your signature run? A play you look at after and you’re like, “That’s what I’m all about.”

“A couple years ago I had a run versus Houston. It was a trap play and I came through the hole. My offensive lineman was trying to get to the block but he wasn’t going to get there, so I grabbed him and threw him into the defender and it opened up and I ran.”

Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo and Old Spice working to end “overspraying epidemic”

Jerod-Mayo-Old-Spice (2)

There’s a war going on that you may not even know about. We hear a lot about world events like missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, Syria and the Middle East. But one thing we don’t hear about is the overspraying epidemic that exists for 75% of guys.

Patriots All-Pro linebacker Jerod Mayo and Old Spice have teamed up to teach men how to scent responsibly and stop this epidemic the way Mayo stopped Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta in the 2013 AFC Championship.

“I’m actually on my way now to educate young guys at Boston University to teach them how to scent responsibly,” said Mayo, concern evident in his voice.

“They know how to drive responsibly, and do other things responsibly. It’s all about scenting responsibly in 2014. I’m very excited to help end the overspraying epidemic that’s happening now.”

One reason the problem has reached epidemic levels is ignorance; 68% of guys admit that no one had ever showed them how to apply body spray properly.

The first step is acceptance — realizing that you have an overspraying problem and then taking the necessary steps to move forward.

Mayo, Captain of the Patriots defense, is here to call out your defensive spray audible.

“There’s some rules you have to abide by. First off, it starts with a shower. You have to take a shower with your Old Spice gel. That helps gets the pores open so you can put on the Old Spice Refresh Body Spray. But the thing about Refresh is that you don’t need too much of it.”

5 Craziest Wagers in History from the World Series of Poker

Theme1-final table-RO2

Below are the five craziest wagers of all time as chosen by the World Series of Poker’s website, WSOP.com.

The list, with bets from name changes to royalty rights, was spurred by the now legendary Stu Ungar wager, in which the player was bet he could not correctly count the last three decks of a six-deck shoe (312 cards!) Ungar, a three-time World Series of Poker winner, identified all 156 cards without missing a beat, earning the man $100,000.

1. A New Zealand man wagered his name in a poker bet and lost. His friends were able to decide his new name and selected the 99-character moniker, Full Metal Havok More Sexy N Intelligent Than Spock And All The Superheroes Combined With Frostnova, meeting the country’s character limit of 100.

2. A man by the name of Ashley Revell sold his possessions for $135,000. He brought the money to Vegas and bet all of it on red at the roulette table. Lucky for Revell, the ball landed on red, doubling the man’s fortune.

3. U.K. professor, Rob Price, bet $1,600 that golfer, Rory McIlroy, would win the Masters after swearing he saw the athlete’s face in a sweet roll.

4. One of the top five most popular children’s books of all time, Green Eggs and Ham, was written by Theodor Suess Geisal, aka Dr. Seuss, on a $50 bet that he couldn’t publish a book using only 50 unique words.

5. In the 80’s, George Lucas bet fellow director Steven Spielberg that if Star Wars made more money than his own film, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Spielberg would get 2.5 percent of Lucas’ movie’s profits until death. Spielberg is still getting checks in the mail from his buddy.

Uniting The Ringless: Damian Lillard Foot Locker Ad Kills

No-Rings-Foot-Locker

Retirement has proven to be little respite for living NBA legends Karl Malone and Chris Webber, and former NFL starsBarry Sanders and Ladainian Tomlinson, who are reminded of their ring-less professional careers in the new spot from Foot Locker, “No Rings”.

Airing today and throughout the start of playoff action, the new commercial features Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard on his phone talking about how he hopes not to end up ringless like some athletes of the past. To his surprise, iconic (and ringless) sports legends Sanders, Tomlinson, Webber, and Malone are hanging out in his living room, noticeably affected by the reminder that the coveted championship ring has slipped through their fingers.

Foot Locker’s new commercial is part of Foot Locker’s successful “Approved” marketing platform and can be seen here.

The spot features the newest performance footwear from Adidas basketball, including the Lillard Edition Crazy 1, Crazy 8 and D Rose 4.5, as well as the latest apparel styles from Adidas Originals.

Jon Hamm Directs “Clint Dempsey: On The Move” For Degree Men

Degree-Clint-Dempsey-Jon-Hamm

Since Clint Dempsey and the U.S. Men’s National Soccer team were knocked out early in the World Cup four years ago in South Africa, he’s been on a mission to DO:MORE so he could ultimately IMPROVE and lead the team farther during this summer’s matches in Brazil.

To help tell his personal IMPROVE story, Degree Men enlisted the help of ‘Mad Men’ star and soccer fan, Jon Hamm, to direct the short film, “On The Move.”

Here’s a behind the scenes look featuring Hamm and Dempsey:

We spoke with Clint recently and asked the US Soccer captain 10 questions, here are a few choice cuts:

1. Talk about your partnership with Degree: DO MORE and how one lucky soccer fan can win a trip to Brazil in June to support you and the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team.

Degree is working with soccer and promoting the game. And also they’ve got the new deodorant now out with Degree Motion Sense technology where the more you move the more protection you get. The cool thing about it the campaign is, if you go to degreesoccer.com, a fan can win a trip to Brazil to join us at the World Cup this summer, so that will be exciting.

2. Is scoring a goal the hardest thing to do in sports?

At times, it feels like that, but other times, it feels like luck is on your side. It is a great feeling. For me growing up, whether I scored a touchdown or hit a home run, or scored a goal, scoring a goal is the greatest feeling to me. It gave me such a rush you want to keep doing it over and over again. That’s the reason I love the game. I love that it’s continuous, there aren’t that many stoppages, and scoring a goal is why I fell in love with it.

3. What does it feel like to be the captain of the American team?

One, it puts more pressure on me to try to will the team on. At the same time, there are a lot of players on the team that have played in World Cups, and will be ready for that challenge. We have a lot of leaders on this team; not just myself. Michael Bradley, Tim Howard and plenty of others that have that experience and really helped the team out in tough times. We’re a team that’s in good hands and we’re looking forward to the challenge, and I’m excited about that opportunity.
