      Donovan McNabb to Rams? Trade rumor debunked.

      Earlier today, Andy Reid admitted that teams are entertaining the Eagles with offers for all three of their quarterbacks and not soon after, the Internet rumor mill went into hyper mode as people dreamed up possibly landing spots for Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb and/or Michael Vick.

      The least juiciest rumor comes from Ashley Fox of the Philadelphia Inquirer, who writes that there is little-to-no market for Vick as a starting quarterback. Apparently even teams like the Rams and Bills aren’t interested in him, even if the Eagles would be willing to back off their ridiculous demands of a second-round pick. If Philly does put him back on the market, it may have to take a mid-round selection and the team acquiring Vick would also get to punch one member of the Eagles’ front office staff for even having the notion that they could get a second-rounder in return for the QB.

      The more intriguing rumors started developing earlier this afternoon as the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Browns are not among the teams entertaining trade proposals for McNabb. The Philadelphia Daily News then reported that Reid and McNabb haven’t spoken in months and that the team lowered its asking price from two-first round picks and a third, to only a second-rounder.

      Report: Seahawks want Kolb, not McNabb

      Comcast Sports Net Philadelphia is reporting that the Seahawks are interested in Eagles’ quarterback Kevin Kolb and not Donovan McNabb. This contradicts ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio’s report yesterday that the Seahawks have been calling the Eagles “non-stop” about the availability of both quarterbacks.

      Good luck, Seattle. If (and it’s a big “if” at this point) the Eagles were going to part with either quarterback, it would be McNabb because of his age. Kolb is the future and while Andy Reid may be committed to McNabb now, he knows the veteran can’t play forever and at some point the team will have to make the transition to the younger QB.

      The Seahawks own the No. 6 and No. 14 overall picks in the draft and I highly doubt they would be willing to give up either for Kolb or McNabb. If they found another team to trade with, they may be willing to drop down and then make a deal with Philly, but again, the Eagles seem reluctant to hang onto all three (Michael Vick being the third leg of the triangle) of their quarterbacks at this point.

      This is an interesting development and one that is worth following leading up to the draft, but as it stands right now there is no deal to be had between these two teams. It’s also worth noting that the Seahawks have been linked to receiver Brandon Marshall, who would also have to be acquired via trade.

      Report: Seahawks interested in McNabb, Kolb

      Despite Andy Reid and the rest of the Eagles’ front office’s best efforts to downplay the situation, the Donovan McNabb trade rumors just won’t die in Philadelphia.

      ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reports that the Seahawks have been calling the Eagles “non-stop” about McNabb and Kevin Kolb. Paolantonio says that Pete Carroll is in “win-now” mode and apparently doesn’t think that Matt Hasselbeck can make the Hawks competitive next season. Either that, or Carroll has plans to trade Hasselbeck if he can land one of the two Philadelphia QBs. Maybe Hasselbeck’s former head coach, Mike Holmgren, would take him in Cleveland. (The Browns just acquired Seneca Wallace earlier in the week, so it could be a regular ol’ Seattle quarterback reunion in Cleveland.)

      Of course, there’s still a strong possibility that the Eagles will hang onto both McNabb and Kolb this season. I get the feeling that Philly wants to make one more run with McNabb as its starter before transitioning to Kolb in 2011. That’s just speculation on my part, but seeing as how Reid and the Eagles haven’t given anyone a reason to believe that they’re ready to deal McNabb, this still seems like the most likely scenario.

      Eagles to keep all three quarterbacks?

      It appears that the Eagles are fine with the possibility of keeping Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick on their roster for the 2010 season.

      ESPN.com is reporting that the Eagles will pick up Vick’s $1.5 million roster bonus, which is due on Tuesday. That means unless a team makes Philly an offer they can’t refuse, it looks like Vick will have to wait another to become a starter.

      That said, the Rams, Bills and Raiders still have plenty of time to make a move for Vick. It’s hard to believe that the Eagles would pass on a fourth round pick if one were offered to them, especially considering Vick will become a free agent next year and they won’t get anything for him if he signs elsewhere. It doesn’t make sense for the Eagles not to acquire compensation for a quarterback they’re not even using, but it’s wise that they’re playing their cards close to their chest right now.

      As far as McNabb and Kolb are concerned, it appears that the Eagles will hang onto both players unless they’re offered a first round pick for either of them. And even then, they may ultimately decide that they want to see how the 2010 season plays out before deciding what they want to do in 2011.

      McNabb likely to stay in Philadelphia through 2010

      In news that will certainly cause some Philly fans to want to punch a hole in a wall Andy Bernard-style, all indications point to Donovan McNabb remaining an Eagle this season.

      Despite persistent rumors that the team would be willing to listen to trade offers for the veteran QB, head coach Andy Reid indicated on Tuesday that McNabb would return to the team in 2010. While speaking at Brian Westbrook’s farewell press conference, new GM Howie Roseman echoed Reid’s sentiment by noting that Andy “speaks for all of us.”

      Chances are that 2010 will be McNabb’s last year in Philadelphia barring a Super Bowl victory. Kevin Kolb has been patiently waiting for his opportunity to become a starter and if McNabb once again stumbles in the playoffs, the Eagles will probably move on when Donovan’s contract ends after the 2010 season. This is all just speculation on my part, but at some point the Eagles will have to transition to the youngster and 2011 (assuming there isn’t a lockout) seems like a good year to do so.

      The Eagles certainly have enough talent to reach the playoffs for the third straight year. They have a roster chock-full of talent on both sides of the ball and a veteran coaching staff that understands what it takes to reach the postseason. But whether or not Reid and McNabb can lift this team to the next level has always been the question. We’ll find out in 2010, which is shaping up to be McNabb’s last hooray in The City of Brotherly Love.
