UFC 127 takes place tonight from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. While the card doesn’t have any blockbuster bouts, all the fights are intriguing and should be somewhat competitive. Here is my take on tonight’s PPV bouts.

UFC Welterweight Bout – B.J. Penn (16-7-1) vs. Jon Fitch (26-3) – I think this fight plays into Fitch’s style as he should be able to execute a similar plan to what Georges St. Pierre did to Penn back at UFC 94. Look for Fitch to clinch and grapple and put his weight on Penn to tire him down and eventually score takedowns to earn another decision victory.

UFC Middleweight Bout – Michael Bisping (21-3) vs. Jorge Rivera (18-7) – Rivera has talked a lot of trash leading up to this bout in hopes of making Bisping let his emotions go during the fight, but I see Bisping staying composed and bringing Rivera to the ground where he can overwhelm him with ground-and-pound striking. I see Bisping finishing off Rivera in the second round by TKO.

UFC Lightweight Bout – George Sotiropoulos (14-2) vs. Dennis Siver (17-7) – Siver can win this fight is he takes advantage of a slow-starting Sotiropoulos, but I see George being able to survive the early flurry and finding a way to get the fight to the ground where he will lock up an arm submission against Siver in the third round.

UFC Welterweight Bout – Chris Lytle (40-17-4) vs. Brian Ebersole (46-14-1) – Lytle is riding a big wave right now and seems to be the best he has ever been. Ebersole has a lot of experience but is making his UFC debut, which always seems to be problematic. Look for Lytle to control the fight and win by submission in the later rounds.

UFC Middleweight Bout – Kyle Noke (18-4-1) vs. Chris Camozzi (14-3) – Noke is fighting in front of his home country and is being showcased for a push in the UFC, but I see that as a lot of pressure on a relatively new UFC fighter. Camozzi has nothing to lose in this fight and I think he will pull off an upset by decision with the use of his grappling.

Nate Lawson of HeavyMMA.com writes that UFC 123 will feature 11 bouts on its fight card.

“UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida” is complete with the addition of nine bouts to the now 11-fight card.

The promotion announced the remainder of the card earlier today.

The event, which is set for Auburn Hills, Michigan, on November 20, features a light heavyweight tilt between former champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida, along with a welterweight contest between Matt Hughes and B.J. Penn.

Making up the remainder of the five-fight main card, Joe Lauzon and George Sotiropoulos face off in a battle of two of the sport’s top grapplers, while light heavyweight prospect Phil Davis faces off against Tim Boetsch. The final main card contest announced today will feature Maiquel Falcao and Gerald Harris.

In addition to the pay-per-view broadcast, the promotion has also announced a preliminary special on Spike TV, which will feature a middleweight bout between Mark Munoz and Aaron Simpson and a welterweight fight between Matt Brown and Brian Foster.

For the undercard portion of the event, UFC veterans Karo Parisyan and Dennis Hallman and top-level wrestlers Tyson Griffin and Nik Lentz face off, while Darren Elkins vs. Edson Barboza and T.J. O’Brien vs. Paul Kelly round out the remainder of the card.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship puts on UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin tonight from Las Vegas, which features arguably the biggest heavyweight title fight in the history of the organization. Here are my thoughts on tonight’s card.

UFC Heavyweight Championship – Brock Lesnar (4-1) vs. Shane Carwin (12-0) – These two have very similar builds and styles but the key in this fight will be Lesnar’s ability to get the fight to the ground. If the fight stays standing, Carwin has the edge. Carwin should be able to stay off his back and land a big punch to earn the KO win in the first or second round. While Lesnar is a stud, he is still green to MMA and never fought someone with the power that Carwin has. Look for Lesnar to learn a big lesson tonight.

UFC Middleweight Bout – Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-1) vs. Chris Leben (20-6) – Leben deserves some credit for taking this fight just a few weeks after competing, but it should be somewhat easy for Akiyama to get him to the ground and submit him after a couple of rounds of work. Look for Akiyama to win by choke in round two.

UFC Welterweight Bout – Chris Lytle (38-17-4) vs. Matt Brown (13-8) – Both of these guys are tough as nails, but Lytle has the edge in striking technique and probably in wrestling as well. Look for him to control Brown and land some big punches to earn a decision victory in what could be Fight of the Night.

UFC Light Heavyweight Bout – Krzysztof Soszynski (20-10-1) vs. Stephan Bonnar (14-7) – This is a rematch of a bout from UFC 110 where Soszynski won when Bonnar was cut by a head butt. After some dispute, Bonnar gets his rematch, but he was losing the first fight before the cut anyway. Look for Soszynski to continue what he started and win a decision win over Bonnar.

UFC Lightweight Bout – George Sotiropoulos (12-2) vs. Kurt Pellegrino (21-4) – Sotiropoulos has emerged as a solid lightweight due to his grappling and submission skills. Pellergrino is a tough guy, but he isn’t quite at the level as his opponent. Look for this fight to spend most of the time on the ground, where George will control the fight and finish with a submission in the third round.
