Yesterday was an exciting day in the NBA. The first six games of the day were decided by four points or less. I don’t normally post these highlight videos, but there were two game winners at the end that are worth a look.
I love watching the home crowd (even an NBA crowd) when their team hits a game winner.
You may have heard about Mark Cuban’s decision to confront Denver Nuggets G/F J.R. Smith after Smith threw an elbow at Mavs guard Antoine Wright.
The league has reviewed Smith’s elbow and decided that no action is necessary, but Cuban may still be punished. Here’s the video of the elbow — do you think it warrants a fine and/or suspension?
Keep in mind that the commentator here is a Nuggets fan, so he probably has his Denver goggles on. I don’t think that the elbow was meant as a warning. I think he tried to hit Wright in the face/throat after Wright got a shove in on Smith’s neck. Wright’s shove occurred when Smith tried to get to the glass and the shot was in the air. Smith threw his elbow after the ball went through the hoop.
I think Smith deserves some sort of punishment. Had his elbow connected with Wright’s throat, serious damage should be done.
This doesn’t give Cuban the right to confront an opposing team’s player. He should act like an adult and file a grievance with the league.
On a more humorous note, after the game, Smith apparently sent a signed pair of shoes to the Mavs’ locker room as a present for Cuban. It didn’t go over well with the Bratty Billionaire.
This video is bizarre and (sort of) sports related, so I had to post it. Apparently, this woman is a big fan of the Florida Gators, and in order to pay tribute to their national championship victory, she donned a blue and orange bikini and hit the pole.
One observation — and let’s assume that this woman is a student at UF. Imagine that you’re her dad, and you and your wife pay a surprise visit to her off-campus apartment. And when you walk in, there’s a flipping POLE IN THE LIVING ROOM. Would you shoot yourself in the head immediately or wait until you got home?
Some view the Detroit Lions’ 0-16 season as imperfection at its finest. But not Bang! Cartoons. In their latest ‘toon, Bang! Cartoons take a look at the perfection that was the Detroit Lions’ 2008 Season.
If you liked the cartoon, make sure you check out Bang! Cartoon’s Radio Hour this week, where they tackle topics such as Stephen A. Smith, the dry humbling dance of Rey Mauluga on Erin Andrews and much more.
SPORTSbyBROOKS.com has posted video of Giants fans (including one in particular named Justin) going ape crap on a Porsche in the parking lot of Giants Stadium after the Eagles beat Big Blue on Sunday.
So many questions here. The game ended around 4:00, but this video appears to be shot late at night. Why were these cars still here? Is it possible that Phil Simms and Justin Tuck here were destroying their own vehicles, as the YouTube poster claims?
[Update: The cars had previously suffered minor damage from a tailgating fire.]
You’d think this couldn’t get better, but it does. Check the 0:30 mark, when a flying Double Dragon dropkick goes horribly wrong.
Not to rain on the fun, but I seriously hope that the people doing the damage owned those cars. Because if they didn’t, may God have broken Justin’s foot into many pieces after he failed to convert the Double Dragon dropkick in the second video.
