“Big Baby” hits game-winner then runs over an unsuspecting kid

The Celtics tied the series last night (2-2) on Glen “Big Baby” Davis’ buzzer-beating jumper.

The shot was great, but as he was running past the sideline, Davis shoved a little kid out of his way. The best shot of it is at the 1:19 mark.

While it’s pretty ridiculous that any kid is sitting courtside for a playoff game, that kind of insult to injury is uncalled for. (Kidding.)

How is this not a flagrant foul?

In case you missed it, the Bulls/Celtics series had yet another overtime game last night. The Celtics prevailed, in no small part to Brad Miller missing the first of two free throws that would have tied the game. In his defense, his lip was bloodied by Rajon Rondo as he drove to the hoop. Miller caught the ball in the middle of the court and Rondo almost took his head off. It’s pretty clear he wasn’t going for the ball. Why wasn’t this called a flagrant foul?

James Jones scores eight points in 11 seconds

This has to be a record of some sort. James Jones had back-to-back four-point plays in the Heat’s loss last night to the Hawks. The two plays were part of a 14-0 (and 19-2) run that got Miami back into the game late in the second quarter (after falling behind by 21 points).

Due to the nature of the NBA game (i.e. sooooooo many timeouts, the level of play), it’s not often that you see a 14-0 run in a game. And you NEVER see back to back four-point plays. (Granted, it didn’t really look like Mike Bibby fouled him on that second make, but still.)

Glen “Big Baby” Davis is a flopper

Not quite sure about the choice of music, but check out this video of Glen Davis flopping after delivering a hard foul on Brad Miller. The best shot of it comes at around the 0:30 mark.

The bottom line is that no one likes getting hit in the face. Miller is known for his rough and tumble play so it’s funny to see him get bent out of shape after a hard foul.

The league needs to start fining guys that flop like this.

Lakers upended in Salt Lake City

The Jazz rode a great performance by Carlos Boozer (23 points, 22 rebounds) en route to an 88-86 win over the Lakers. Los Angeles leads the series, 2-1, and has struggled in Utah in recent playoffs. Kobe was just 5 of 24 from the field, but still finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the loss.

Be sure to check out Boozer’s dunk on Pau Gasol at about the 2:00 mark.

Sick.

In other series, the Mavs blew out the Spurs and the Celtics beat the Bulls by 21 in Chicago.
