      Padraig Harrington wins PGA Championship

      With a final round of 3-under-par 67, Padraig Harrington won the 90th PGA Championship Sunday by two strokes over Sergio Garcia.

      Harrington shot a 32 on the back nine, just as he did at Royal Birkdale last month, and he came up with three big putts down the stretch. He made a 12-foot par on the 16th to catch Sergio Garcia and Ben Curtis, took the lead with an 8-foot birdie on the par-3 17th, then closed out the Spaniard with an 18-foot par for a two-shot victory.

      “I think I was willing them into the hole at that stage,” Harrington said. “You have to get focused and give it a go.”
      The Irishman ended Europe’s 78-year drought in the PGA Championship, and he joined Tiger Woods, Nick Price and Walter Hagen as the only players to win the final two majors in the same year. Woods did it twice, in 2000 and 2006.

      What a two years for Harrington. He won the 2007 U.S. Open, the 2008 U.S. Open and now the 2008 PGA Championship. Garcia was one of the early favorites to win the PGA Championship this year, but Harrington stuck around long enough and played well down the stretch to pick up his fifth career tour win.

      Now if only Joey Harrington could play football as well as his cousin plays golf. Then the sports world would be taking about the Harrington’s instead of the Manning, Bonds and Andretti families. Or not…

      Justin Timberlake 2008 ESPY’S video montage

      On a whole, the 2008 ESPY’s were pretty damn funny this year, from Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s mock audition tapes to Darren Howard’s dance moves.

      I thought ESPN had a rather odd choice for host, going with musician Justin Timberlake, until he got on stage, that is. Dude is pretty funny – especially his sports “research” montage where he gets up close and personal with Terrell Owens, Ozzie Guillen and Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy.

      “Who cares man, this guy never plays anyway!” Freaking funny.

      Golf tips from hottie Natalie Gulbis

      Golf game in need of improvement? Oh don’t lie, yes it does. Men’s Fitness.com recently asked LPGA pro Natalie Gulbis to share some pointers for when you’re out on the links.

      DRIVING
      “The proper driver position is right off your left foot,” says Gulbis. “That’ll help you hit it a little more solidly.” Don’t grip too hard, and keep your lower body still while your upper body rotates through the ball. To hit your shot from right to left, move the ball back in your stance, closer to your right foot, and swing inside out. To hit it left to right, move it up in your stance, and swing from the outside in.

      BUNKER PLAY
      Playing a bunker the right way can shave strokes off your score. Have the ball in the middle of your slightly open stance with a slightly open club head. Don’t be fancy, just get the ball out of the bunker. “The key is to make sure you take your shot two inches behind the ball,” says Gulbis. “The sand will help carry the ball out and spin it a little better.”

      PUTTING
      You can putt a million different ways, but the key is to repeat your stroke. “If you cut across it, if you hit it hard, if you hit it soft, whatever it is, just be able to work from there,” says Gulbis. Get used to hitting the ball the same way every time. “Draw a line on your golf ball and line it up with your target,” she says. “Then, you can just roll it along that line.”

      MENTAL GAME
      Golf can be one of the most frustrating hobbies in the world, if you let it get to you. “You’ve got to get in a positive frame of mind, or else you’re going straight downhill.”

      And if these pointers don’t help – drink more.
