I really have no idea. The entire situation in LA is pretty stunning. I’m not surprised they got rid of Mike Brown, as his pathetic offense seemed like a poor fit for a team Steve Nash. Nash flourished under Mike D’Antoni, but he was younger at the time and they never won anything. Meanwhile the Lakers decided not to bring back the best coach in NBA history – Phil Jackson. It should be good for NBA ratings, however, as this drama should be fun to watch.

Here’s a great clip of Texas A&M’s Deshazor Everett’s game clinching interception vs No. 1 Alabama last Saturday. The Aggies beat a solid but over-rated Alabama team to shake up the BCS standings. Now the SEC is looking at the possibility of not being included in the National Championship game, and the whining has already begun.
Before fans of the three undefeated teams call their congressmen, let’s be clear that we’re not suggesting that a one-loss Tide or Bulldogs squad jump over any of them, provided they finish unbeaten. Even though Alabama would likely be favored on a neutral field over all three teams, going undefeated in a major conference—or in the Irish’s case against a major-conference schedule—must be rewarded. (Sorry Louisville, but running the table in the Big East wasn’t going to cut it this year even before Saturday’s loss to Syracuse.)
But if two among the trio of the Ducks, Wildcats and Irish lose in the season’s final weeks, a one-loss Alabama or Georgia team needs to be next in line. Frankly, any title game that doesn’t include the SEC’s best wouldn’t feel as legitimate.
To be the “real” champ, you need to beat the champ. Until some other conference hoists the crystal trophy, that metaphorical championship belt resides in the SEC. Winning a BCS title without beating an SEC team would be like winning an NBA title while an in-his-prime Michael Jordan was off shagging fly balls. (Deep down, Houston Rockets fans know this is true.)
That’s a load of bull. The SEC has benefited from the idiotic BCS system that only let two teams play for the National Championship. Many excellent teams were denied the opportunity to play in the final game, most notably last year when Oklahoma State had to sit by and watch two SEC teams play for the title. The system is so flawed it’s ridiculous, and that’s even before we get into the oversignings and other shenanigans that make the SEC look like a semi-pro league.
So get over yourself. In a couple of years, we’ll at least have a four-team playoff so the whole system will be a little more fair, but let’s not pretend that a final game without the SEC somehow cheapens a system that already sucks.

I guess it’s hard to make it to the World Series when you have to bench your most expensive player in the elimination game of the ALCS.
This postseason will be remembered by New York fans for all of the Alex Rodriguez drama. The Yankees did get one World Series championship for the king’s ransom they paid A-Rod, but now they’re left with another $100 million to pay out on that ridiculous contract.
Donald Trump is one of the biggest jackasses around, but he did have a decent point when he suggested on Twitter that the Yankees should refuse to pay A-Rod due to fraud – they resigned him not knowing he was taking PEDs. In know – it’s unrealistic, but it would make for some great reality TV.

The photo above was posted by the official Facebook page of the Seattle Seahawks. Not surprisingly, they aren’t acknowledging the complete fiasco caused by the replacement refs in this game. Now, I have little sympathy for Aaron Rodgers, who might be the most arrogant quarterback in the NFL. Also, Seattle’s defense was just incredible last night, so they deserve credit for making this a game against a Green Bay team that won 15 games last year.
But, the calls at the end of that game were just a disgrace. I really haven’t been interested in the replacement ref story. I found it to be boring and didn’t think it was a big deal. But it’s now painfully obvious that these guys are not up to the difficult task of managing an NFL game with the best athletes in the world. Things are getting out of control, and the NFL is managing to tarnish the excellent product they’ve built over the years.
If you’re not on Twitter during NFL games you’re missing out on a fun way to follow the reactions of commentators and fans, and the reactions last night to the debacle in Seattle were hilarious. Here’s a few that I pulled out following the game.
Meanwhile, I wasn’t that impressed with Russell Wilson. The only offense he and the Seattle offense were able to muster in the 2nd half came from ridiculous penalties. Seattle has an incredible defense, and Pete Carroll is taking a big risk playing Wilson over Matt Flynn.
Rex Ryan announced that Darrelle Revis is done for the season with a torn ACL.
Life just got much more difficult for the Jets. I was a little more optimistic about their offense, but so far it hasn’t looked very good. Now the offense will have to carry more of the load as the loss of Revis will hurt that defense.
