The old motto goes: offense wins games, defense wins championships. The “Steel Curtain” defense of the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers took that adage to heart by winning four Super Bowls in six years and forming one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history. Now, NFL Films and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment have come together to release “The Pittsburgh Steelers: Behind the Steel Curtain” on DVD and digital download on September 18th.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers: Behind the Steel Curtain” chronicles the Chuck Noll years in the Steel City. From drafting nine future Pro Football Hall of Famers, to winning seven division titles and four Super Bowls, Noll was able to form a team that defined and impacted the game like never before. The program gives fans an in-depth and detailed look at the Black and Gold’s dominating defenses led by “Mean” Joe Greene and Jack Lambert and the formidable offense anchored by Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris. From the pure domination of the “Steel Curtain” defense to the “Immaculate Reception,” it delivers key moments and great memories for Steelers fans during this era.
