A-Rod not happy about popcorn shot

Per the Chicago Sun-Times

A few Fox honchos’ ears were burning Sunday night in Dallas — and it had nothing to do with the action on the Cowboys Stadium field. Turns out Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez wanted to slug a few folks after he spotted himself and his girlfriend Cameron Diaz being shown to the 111 million people watching the game.

America saw the actress lovingly feeding popcorn into A-Rod’s mouth.

“He really went ballistic — thinking the cameraman was out to get them in a paparazzi-like shot. … That’s so crazy,” said my source. “Anyone who knows anything about producing a live sports event — especially something as huge as the Super Bowl — would know that those celebrity shots are purely random.

“A-Rod, of all people, should know that.”

After that one shot — which frankly was totally innocent and kind of sweet — Rodriguez got a guarantee that he and Diaz would not be televised any further.

Here’s an idea — if you don’t want the camera to catch your girlfriend feeding you popcorn, THEN DON’T LET HER FEED YOU POPCORN AT THE F#$%!NG SUPER BOWL!

This is it — this is where ego and idiocy converge.

Just because he complained to Fox, I’m going to post the video here, in case you missed it:

NFL alters ticket option for displaced Super Bowl fans

In one of the smarter decisions the league has made all season, the NFL has added a second option for the roughly 400 fans that had to give up their seats at this year’s Super Bowl. They can now choose to attend any future Super Bowl instead of being limited to next year’s game.

From theSpread.com:

The league initially said Sunday it would give $2,400, three times the face value of the ticket, to the fans who were forced to watch the game on monitors or use standing-room platforms after some temporary seating sections were not completed in time.
On Monday, Commissioner Roger Goodell said those fans would also receive tickets to next year’s Super Bowl.

Then on Tuesday, the NFL announced the fans could choose instead to receive a ticket to any future Super Bowl, along with round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations. If fans choose that option, they will not get the $2,400.

How asinine was it for the league to limit the refund to only next year’s Super Bowl? Chances are, the majority of fans that were displaced rooted for either the Packers or Steelers. So if their favorite team isn’t in the Super Bowl next year, why would they want to go? As much fun as it would be to go to the Super Bowl, I’m only shelling out big bucks if my team was in it and I bet these fans feel the same way.

Georges St. Pierre not looking past Jake Shields

HeavyMMA.com writes that UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre isn’t looking past Jake Shields.

After UFC president Dana White announced at the UFC 126 post-fight press conference, if welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre defeats Jake Shields at UFC 128, that a super bout between he and middleweight titleholder Anderson Silva will happen later this year, people, fans and media alike, have been focused on that epic match up.

St. Pierre isn’t foolish enough to look ahead of what is in front of him, however.

“I don’t even think about it right now. I never thought about it. I always live in the present moment. My biggest problem is Jake Shields, and it would be foolish for me to look past Jake Shields,” said St. Pierre during a special press conference on Tuesday.
