Spend four minutes with Rodrigue Beaubois [video]

Here’s a video of Rodrigue Beaubois’ 40-point night against the Golden State Warriors. (Yes, it’s Golden State, but still.) The kid hit nine three-pointers.

The funny thing about Beaubois’ effort is that it came off the heels of a game against the Blazers where he played one minute…one minute

According to John Hollinger, Beaubois has a PER of 18.92, which ranks #6 amongst shooting guards. Why is he listed as a shooting guard when he’s only 6’0″? Because pretty much all he does is shoot. He has an assist ratio (% of possessions that end in an assist) of 16.1, which would rank 66th out of 69 players if he were listed as a point guard.

The 10 highest-paid sports teams in the world

Yahoo! Sports has the list, which averages the salaries for a starting player.

It’s interesting to see six NBA teams on the list, but it makes sense. Since only five players can play at a time in basketball, franchises can spend more money on their starters. NBA rosters are quite a bit smaller than baseball, football or even soccer rosters.

That makes the Yankees’ top-ranking that much more amazing.

How the Mavs could make a splash this summer

They don’t have any cap room, but that doesn’t mean the Dallas Mavericks can’t make some big moves this summer.

He has one year and $13 million left after this season … but it’s not guaranteed. Meaning a team can trade for him, and drop him. That’s a $13 million savings. Not too shabby.

One team that would like to drop that much and get under the luxury tax? The Hornets.

No one is suggesting the Hornets would trade Chris Paul to Dallas, but David West is a possibility. The Mavs also have Caron Butler and young guard Rodrigue Beaubois, who has played pretty well in his rookie season.

It’s going to be an interesting summer indeed.

Jason Kidd registers triple-double, draws one incredible foul [video]

Jason Kidd posted 19 points, 17 assists and 16 rebounds in the Mavs’ impressive 111-103 overtime win in Atlanta. I’m not a huge Kidd fan, but I absolutely LOVE this play he made late in the fourth quarter…

It drives me nuts that coaches are always standing on the court and I think it’s great that Kidd took advantage of that to get his team an extra point, which eventually forced overtime.

I don’t know what Woodson is yelling about. He looks like a complete idiot. Get off the court!

Josh Howard done for the year with ACL tear

Per Mike Jones, via Twitter…

Josh Howard done for the season with torn ACL Flip says.

It looks like Howard has played his last game as a Wizard. Washington has a team option for another year ($11.8 million), but they’re not likely to exercise it. Without his salary on the books, the franchise can sign a max free agent this summer.
