No wonder Jason Williams was in such a foul mood after the game.
The Magic could have folded. Game 4, on the road, already down 0-3. Teams that fall behind 0-3 have lost 93-of-93 series. The Magic know the odds are stacked against them, but they won Game 4 anyway behind a pretty massive 32-16, four-block effort from Dwight Howard. Jameer Nelson added 23-5-9 and turned the ball over six times, but Orlando had enough to survive, 96-92.
Donde esta Vince Carter? 1-of-9 shooting, three points, three turnovers. That stat line makes Orlando’s win that much more amazing.
Despite 68 points from Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, the Celtics shot just 42% from the field and just 28% from long range. The normally productive Boston benched managed just 12 points on 15 shots.
This win should give Orlando some confidence. If they can win Game 5, the momentum of the series will even out, and the possibility of forcing a Game 7 will be within sight. The pressure will be back on the Celtics to close out the series in Game 6.
No one is expecting the Magic to come back in the series, so they can play loose. And a loose team is a dangerous team.
“Don’t get smart!”
You know that the Celtics are watching this video laughing their asses off.
I’m not sure how else to describe Game 3.
Coming off of two impressive wins in Orlando, the Boston Celtics dominated the third game from tip-off to finish (94-71) and have taken a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
The Magic’s 71 points tell the story. Orlando shot 37% from the field and turned the ball over 17 times. Meanwhile, the Celtics shot 47% and turned the ball over just eight times. The Celtics are playing elite-level defense right now and that’s been the difference in this series.
Looks like Boston is getting ready for the Lakers (unless the Suns can make it a series tomorrow night).
During an interview Thursday with local ESPN Houston affiliate 97.5 FM radio station, retired Houston Rockets guard Calvin Murphy claimed that according to his sources inside the NBA, the rumored affair between LeBron James’ mother Gloria and Cavaliers teammate Delonte West is ”absolutely true.”
In his interview with the hosts of “The Drive,” when asked what he thought of the rumor, Murphy was quoted as saying, “It ain’t no rumor. Unfortunately, my sources in the NBA tell me that it’s absolutely true. My sources, and they’re legit, tell me the only people that didn’t know it was happening was LeBron and me.”
Listen to the interview here.
He went on to predict that LeBron will sign with another team this summer.
The rumor goes that LeBron learned about the news before Game 4, which could explain his suspect performance in that game. Let’s not overlook the fact that Delonte West went 0-7 for three points in that same game.
I don’t know what’s going to happen this summer, but I’d bet the farm that LeBron and Delonte aren’t on the same team next season.
