Lebron James did the right thing – he’s coming home. I say “coming home” because I’m writing this from the Cleveland area and was pleasantly surprised to see Lebron right the wrong of “The Decision” in such a classy way with “The Letter.” Everyone can appreciate the sentiment of wanting to come home, but the folks in Northeast Ohio really needed to hear this from Lebron, and he said it perfectly.
It’s also great for the NBA because the young and talented Cleveland roster also offers a better basketball story. It was pretty obvious that the Big Three era came to a halt with this thrashing at the hands of the Spurs, and Lebron needed a new challenge. That coincided perfectly with a desire to return home that had been building for years.
As a Cavs fan I’m thrilled. I’m also happy for Lebron to be able to rise above the pettiness, acknowledge his own mistakes and take on a new challenge in the place he wants to be.
