      American Pharoah wins the Triple Crown

      Wow! What a horse!

      American Pharoah was leading the entire race, but many fans had to be holding their breath as this marvelous colt made the final turn into the home stretch. Could he hang on, or would we witness another Triple Crown disappointment at the Belmont Stakes?

      But as trainer Bob Baffert later explained, jockey Victor Espinoza hadn’t even unleashed American Pharoah yet while the other jockeys were frantically pushing their horses to try and overtake the favorite. Once unleashed, American Pharoah ran away from the field and revealed why the Triple Crown is reserved for truly special horses.

      The Triple Crown is supposed to be hard, and that makes American Pharoah’s performance and accomplishment even more gratifying.

      Andy Murray in High Spirits Ahead of Grand Slam Double-Header

      They say that behind every good man there’s a good woman, and in Andy Murray’s case that certainly seems to be true.

      The Scottish star married his long-term partner Kim Sears in April in a ceremony in his hometown of Dunblane.

      The holy matrimony has coincided with Murray’s best ever form on clay, and not content with picking up his first ever trophy on the surface in April’s Munich Open, he followed that up with victory in the recent Madrid Masters too – dismantling Rafael Nadal, one of the game’s greatest ever players on clay, in straight sets.

      Bob Kravitz mocks Phillip Dorsett pick by Colts

      Most criticisms of NFL draft picks can be pretty lame as sportswriters and fans whine about certain picks. Of course that’s all part of the fun, but few of them offer much insight.

      This rant from Bob Kravitz, however, is worth reading for many reasons. First, he makes some great points. More importantly, much of it is well-written and hilarious!

      Like Kravitz points out, Phillip Dorsett may turn out to be a special player. But given the needs of the Colts on the defense and the offensive line, he makes a great point that a team poised to potentially unseat the Patriots needs to be a little more mindful of glaring needs, like not getting Andrew Luck killed.

      Fran Tarkenton scolds AJ McCarron

      This is pretty hilarious.

      AJ McCarron has a pretty inflated view of himself, and that came across when he criticized the current Alabama team by saying it didn’t have the leadership the team had last year (that would be himself, AJ McCarron). He also made some comments about Nick Saban “handcuffing” the offense.

      The great Fran Tarkenton reacted with a classic rant about McCarron:

      “A.J. McCarron- he needs to be quiet,” Tarkenton said on Jox 94.5-FM’s The Opening Drive. “He was so fortunate to play in that program. He’s an average quarterback at best. He couldn’t have played anywhere else but Alabama and to make any kind of comment is just disrespectful. He shouldn’t have made it and he should keep his mouth shut, praise Saban and Alabama for the rest of his life.”

      Does anyone disagree with that?

      Tarkenton is one of the ex-players who says what’s on his mind and doesn’t sugar-coat things. He’ll tell you most modern players are using HGH, which is why players are so huge these days and why defensive ends are running 4.5 40s.

      As for McCarron he backtracked of course, and he’s be wise to heed Tarkenton’s advice.
