Sometimes it’s tough to keep up with the interesting matchups that develop out of these early season tournaments, but tonight’s Duke/Marquette game (10 PM ET on ESPN) at the Maui Invitational should be a treat. Both teams are ranked and have looked good thus far this season.
Duke is getting great play out of super sophomore Gerald Henderson, who has scored in double figures in each of the Blue Devils’ four games. The team is getting meaningful contributions from its trio of freshman – Kyle Singler, Taylor King and Nolan Smith – giving Duke a talented rotation that goes nine deep. Coach Krzyzewski has implemented some of the up tempo offense of the Phoenix Suns, so the Blue Devils are running more than ever.
Meanwhile, Marquette is led by juniors Dominic James and Jerel McNeal, who make up one of the best backcourt duos in the country. Marquette is also able to go nine deep, so this game might come down to who has the better bench.
