With all the drama this season, many have assumed that the Cleveland Cavaliers will probably come up short in their quest for the first-ever NBA championship for the franchise this year, barring a monster performance from Lebron and some lucky breaks.
Well, that still may be true, but the sudden resurgence of Kyrie Irving plus the excellent play by Kevin Love may be changing that assessment.
It’s easy to forget that Kyrie is coming off knee surgery, so it’s understandable that he struggled at times this season. His shot was off for long stretches as he posted his worst 3-point shooting percentage of his career.
But now his shots are falling, and you can see from Lebron’s reaction below that he’s thrilled to have his running mate back in top form. Add in a Kevin Love who has suddenly realized he needs to play aggressively and you have a team that has the talent to beat anyone, including the beloved Warriors.
Lebron has been fantastic as well, though he hasn’t had to hog the ball and go into perpetual “beast mode” in these playoffs. Hopefully he’ll be able to turn that on when needed in the tougher series down the road assuming the Cavs finish off the Pistons.
