HeavyMMA.com writes that Fedor Emelianenko is pondering retirement after losing to Antonio Silva in the Stirkeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament.
We may have seen the legendary Fedor Emelianenko’s fighting career come to an end on Saturday at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva” at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
“The Last Emperor” suffered his second loss in a row to Antonio Silva in the opening round of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament via doctor stoppage.
The former Pride Champion may have announced his retirement following the loss.
“Something went wrong from the very beginning, and I couldn’t readjust myself. Maybe it’s time to leave,” Emelianenko said in his post-fight interview.
“Yes, maybe it’s the last time,” added Fedor. “Maybe it’s God’s will.”

I am a Fedor fan and I never thought I’d see him get the kind of vicious beatdown like he got last night. I didn’t think about the 55 pound weight difference because he’s overcome that before, but wow did he look pudgy, small, and slow against Silva.
I also didn’t think he could swing a dead cat and miss that gigantic noggin of Silvas! Holy schnikies I think that guy’s onion has it’s own gravitational pull! They had to add a zip code to New Jersey just to accommodate that guy’s dome! The Geico caveman saw that dude and said, “Damn!”
One more thing to add . . . Fedor had two things going for him: Explosive and extremely accurate puches, and an explosive ground game where even if someone was on top of him, he would explode and quickly reverse the fight. He showed very little of either of these traits yesterday.
Normally his punching game was not reactionary or brawl-oriented, but in fact he sized up his opponent and launched a devastating blow to the head via two-legged rabbit punch.
He tried the devastating brawl tactic, but this time on the heels, which is no different than a Brett Rogers going out and just swinging for the fences. On the ground, he showed none of his previous knowledge. I couldn’t believe that was Fedor out there getting beat on like a first time fighting bitch.
I hate to say Dana White was right the whole time about this guy, but yo have to seriously question his heart after this one, because it seems to me he didn’t train 1 day for this fight, and just undid everything he ever did in his fighting career to date.
I hope Dana White drives this shit home on him until he either flies into a sociopathic rage, or just plain disappears.
i agree but the tourney has lost alot of its glory….this is like if the ufc had a ww tournament and GSP lost…..the lifeblood of this tournament is gone. AFter seeing fedor get manhandled its also making me rethink his status as a top hw…I dont see how he even stays in the top ten because i dont think alot of people had silva as a top ten.
It’s a sad sad day in MMA to see a legend go down and possibly for good. However, you know it’s coming, Fedor he is … old. Everything good will have to come to and end. He will forever be remembered as the greatest fighter … EVER.
About the fight itself, even though the ref didn’t stop the fight during the round, Silva didn’t really put Fedor away. If the ref did not stop the fight after the round, Fedor would get back in there and beat Silva, that’s how much I believed in the guy. Silva exhausted himself and couldn’t punch out Fedor. They should have let Fedor have one more round and see what he can do, swollen eye and all. However, fight ended and you couldn’t debate or argue after the fact. Silva come over at the end and took a “bow” to showed his respect. Enough said.
Long live the Emperor !
