Bonds has no shame

Barry Bonds is really starting to embarrass baseball and his image. He recently broke down in tears when discussing his current situation. Give me a break. He is the most arrogant, selfish and defiant person to play the game today. The only reason Bonds could be crying is to try and pull at the public’s heart. This is a complete joke. Barry Bonds is guilty until to proven innocent.

The fact that baseball waited this long to investigate him is the only reason any true fan should be crying. I just hope this case doesn’t lose steam. He would do baseball a great favor by just claiming an injury and retiring.

Pete Rose, where are you when we need you? I’m not sure what type of cheating is worse, betting or filling your body with an illegal substance. I would vote Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame in a minute over Bonds. The sad truth is that Barry Bonds was a very talented player that wasn’t satisfied with his given ability and decided to use illegal means to improve it. This new show (Bonds on Bonds) should be on Comedy Central and not ESPN.

NFL to keep things flexible on Sunday

During the second half of the season, the NFL will be able to schedule the Sunday night games on the fly, ensuring that the matchups are good ones.

For Weeks 10-15 and Week 17, the final regular-season weekend, all Sunday games will be listed with start times of 1 p.m. or 4:05-4:15 p.m. ET. The league must then announce which match will be played Sunday night at least 12 days before the date of the game.

CBS, who has the AFC games, and Fox, who has the NFC, each have the option to protect five games over the final seven weeks, but they cannot protect more than one game per week. If they protect a game, the league can’t move it to Sunday night.

This will be an improvement over recent years, where we’ve seen some poor or meaningless matchups on Sunday night. Now we’ll have games in prime time that are ready for prime time.

Ouch! Stoudemire done for the year

Amare Stoudemire went under the knife again, and will miss the rest of the season.

The 2005 All-Star underwent a procedure at Banner Samaritan Outpatient Surgical Center on Wednesday to remove debris caused by wear and tear on his kneecap. The resulting inflammation had led to the development of a cyst and pressure behind the joint.

The 23-year-old will be on crutches for seven to 10 days and will need six to eight weeks before he can resume court activities.

The Suns will have to head into the playoffs without their superstar center.

Wilcox is a silver lining for Seattle

The Seattle Supersonics aren’t going to the playoffs this year, but the trade they made on Valentine’s Day has worked out beautifully. They sent disgruntled small forward Vladimir Radmanovic to the Clippers for Chris Wilcox, and the trade has shown immediate dividends.

The Sonics are 11-10 in the 21 games in which Wilcox played more than 20 minutes. In those games, he has averaged 15.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, while shooting a stellar 60% from the field. Last night, against the Rockets, Wilcox scored 26 points and grabbed 24 rebounds.

I’m sure the Clippers were sad to see Wilcox go, but there just wasn’t enough playing time available behind Elton Brand and Chris Kaman, and he’s good enough to be getting starter’s minutes. For his part, Radmanovic has averaged 12.1 ppg and 5.3 rpg over the last 10 games, and has provided his new team with excellent shooting from long range, hitting 44% of his three-point shots.

It’s a rare thing – a trade that works out for both teams.
