      Three bouts announced for UFC Fight Night 24

      HeavyMMA.com is reporting that three bouts, including Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson, are official for UFC Fight Night 24 in Seattle on March 29.

      The UFC recently announced that Seattle, Washington would play host to the upcoming “UFC Fight Night 24: Ortiz vs. Nogueira” and today the promotion announced three fights that will be featured on the card.

      In the main event of the evening, former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz looks for a victory and job security against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, while former welterweight top contender Dan Hardy seeks redemption against Anthony Johnson in the evening’s co-main event. In the third official bout of the evening, “Ultimate Fighter” winner Amir Sadollah is set to face off against Duane Ludwig in a match up that will likely make the main card on March 29.

      With three fights announced, focus seems to remain on Ortiz, who has struggled in recent years. UFC President Dana White is one of the many who has noticed and says that Ortiz’s time in the Octagon could be over depending on the result of the March fight.

      Evan Dunham focused on Melvin Guillard

      Jeff Cain of HeavyMMA.com writes that Evan Dunham has put the controversial UFC 119 loss to Sean Sherk behind him and is focused solely on Melvin Guillard.

      The spectators in attendance at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sept. 25 for UFC 119 were treated to a great lightweight fight between Evan Dunham and Sean Sherk that ended in a bad decision.

      Most had Dunham winning the fight, including UFC president Dana White, who has commented that Dunham got “screwed” by the judges.

      “The way I look at Evan Dunham right now is this kid’s undefeated. He got screwed,” said UFC president Dana white about Dunham and the split decision loss to Sherk. “I think Evan Dunham won that fight. So, you know, on his record he’s 11-1, but this kid’s one of the most talented, up and coming kids in the division.”

      Dunham felt he won the fight as the scorecards were being read that night, but knows why “don’t leave it in the hands of the judges” is a too commonly uttered phase in mixed martial arts.

      “I thought I had won it. My corner men had thought I won it but, you know, in MMA we all know that, you know, stuff happens that are out of your control, especially when it comes to the judges,” said 29-year old fighter.

      Edgar vs. Maynard III in the works for UFC 130?

      Nate Lawson of HeavyMMA.com is reporting that Frankie Edgar is set to face Gray Maynard once again. This time, the two will battle at UFC 130.

      MMAFighting.com reported news of the match up earlier today.

      Edgar fought Maynard for a second time at “UFC 125: Resolution” this month, keeping his belt after a five round fight that ended with a split-draw. Maynard, who holds a win over Edgar, exited the Octagon convinced he won the fight, while the champion believed he should have earned the victory as well.

      UFC President Dana White originally stated that WEC champion Anthony Pettis would get the next shot at the champion, but then decided to give Maynard the next title fight after the draw.

      UFC 130, which is rumored to take place sometime this upcoming May, is still far from official. However, a heavyweight bout between former champion Frank Mir and Roy Nelson is in the works, as is a light heavyweight tilt between Thiago Silva and Quinton Jackson.

      UFC 125 Picks & Predictions

      UFC 125 takes place on Saturday from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The event features five very intriguing and exciting fights, headlined by a battle for the UFC Lightweight Championship. Here are my thoughts on who will win on the main card bouts.

      UFC Lightweight Championship – Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard: I look for the champion to retain his belt and avenge a prior loss to Maynard in 2008. Since that time I feel like Edgar has improved greatly as a fighter while Maynard is simply a slightly better version of himself. Maynard will get some takedowns on the champ, but I expect Edgar to bounce back up and use his boxing to tire the challenger before scoring some takedowns in the later rounds to earn a decision victory.

      UFC Middleweight Bout – Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann: While this fight doesn’t deserve co-main event status, it still should be exciting. Leben is riding a wave of momentum that will not be stopped on Saturday as his punching power should carry him to a third round TKO of Stann, who will put up a game effort.

      UFC Light Heavyweight Bout – Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva: This may be Vera’s final UFC fight as I expect Silva to pressure him and not let him set up his kicks. Silva will do a good job of closing the distance and overwhelming Vera with his power and grappling ability. I like Silva to win by unanimous decision.

      UFC Welterweight Bout – Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim: Kim is a very under-rated fighter as he is kind of like the Yushin Okami of this weight class as is very strong and bigger than anyone else in the weight class. I like Kim to use that size to get Diaz to the ground and keep him from using his boxing. It probably won’t be the most exciting fight, but it will be another decision win for Kim.

      UFC Lightweight Bout – Takanori Gomi vs. Clay Guida: I like Guida and the energy he brings to a fight, but his short arms tend to put him in bad spots against strikers. I think Guida will get careless early in the fight and get caught with a big punch by Guida while will lead to a TKO finish in the opening round.

      Ortiz, Nogueira to headline UFC Fight Night 24 in Seattle

      Jeremy Botter of HeavyMMA.com writes that a light-heavyweight bout between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Tito Ortiz will go down at UFC Fight Night 24 now instead of UFC 128 like it was originally scheduled.

      The event is expected to take place March 26 in Seattle. The news was first reported on Tuesday by MMA Junkie.

      Fight Night 24 will air on Spike TV. It will be the UFC’s first trip to Washington, and will likely take place at the KeyArena.

      Ortiz teased the possibility of the fight on Monday night via his official Twitter account. “Big news,” he said. “I’m not fighting in New Jersey. But I am still fighting ‘Lil Nog’ in March.”

      Ortiz is winless in his past five fights and has not scored a win in more than four years. Nogueira, meanwhile, is coming off a tough loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 119 in September.
