Ohio State handles Michigan to finish undefeated regular season

Ryan Day took quite a beating last year in the media and with certain fans after laying an egg against Michigan. Of course, he shut up many of his critics as the Buckeyes played angry and went on an epic run in the College Football Playoff to win Day’s first National Championship.

Still, four straight losses against Michigan hung over Day’s head. This year, Day and the Buckeyes entered the game as the better team, just like last year. But it was clear from the beginning that Day wasn’t going to play conservatively. Julian Sayin came out throwing, but he tossed an interception on his second pass of the game.

But the Buckeyes didn’t buckle under the pressure after falling behind 6-0. Sayin threw a touchdown to Jeremiah Smith and then later threw a TD bomb to Carnell Tate. The running game was also working with Bo Jackson and the other Ohio State backs. Ohio State outgained Michigan 419-163 as they controlled the game in a 27-9 victory.

Meanwhile, Bryce Underwood, Michigan’s $10 million freshman QB, finished the game going 8-18 with just 63 passing yards!

In the fourth quarter, the Buckeyes went to the ground game as their offensive lines just dominated the Michigan defense.

After the game, the Ohio State players celebrated of course, but they didn’t bother planting a flag. They know they expect to win this game, and Day was clear he wanted them to win with humility.

Can Jim Harbaugh survive another season at Michigan?

Let’s face it. Jim Harbaugh has been a disaster at Michigan despite the huge expectations. He can’t beat Ohio State, and the Wolverines are no longer a top-tier college football program.

Can Harbaugh save the situation? It’s doubtful, and Paul Finebaum explains it well in the video above. And as he points out, many Michigan fans have had enough. It also appears that Michigan is having a problem with the number of players entering the transfer portal.

Ohio State whips Michigan . . . again!

The greatest rivalry in college football produced another fun game (for Ohio State fans) while the overall rivalry is suffering a bit. Michigan isn’t holding up its end of the bargain.

The isn’t The Ten Year War. Urban Meyer is 7-0 versus Michigan. Jim Harbaugh is 0-4 against the Buckeyes.

Michigan was favored on the road against a Buckeye team that had all sorts of drama, not to mentioned a defense that has been royally screwed up by Greg Schiano. There was plenty of smack talk coming from Michigan players and fans, but that ended badly for them yesterday.

This article from Bob Wojnowski gives a good overview of the problems with Jim Harbaugh’s program. Harbaugh’s basic offense that relies on power running works well against lesser opponents but just doesn’t cut it against a talented team like the Buckeyes.

Ohio State beats Michigan . . . again

We expected this incredible rivalry to heat up again after Jim Harbaugh arrived in Columbus, and today’s game lived up to the hype with #2 Ohio State defeating #3 Michigan in double overtime.

This has to be a crushing loss for Michigan, as their defense stuffed the Buckeyes for most of the day. But Ohio State made the big plays when needed and JT Barrett shook off a miserable first half to come up with clutch plays down the stretch. The Buckeyes have now won 12 of the last 13 games, and Harbaugh is now 0-2 versus Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. The rivalry is back in the spotlight with this instant classic, but the Buckeyes still have bragging rights.

Jim Harbaugh whined like a baby about the officiating after the game. Perhaps he realized this was his best shot with a senior-heavy lineup, while the young Buckeyes have been playing many freshmen and sophomores. Ohio State will be even tougher to beat next year!
