Is the Dak Prescott hype out of control?

Seriously? Have you heard some of the crazy hype around Dak Prescott after his preseason performances? Trent Dilfer is gushing like a schoolgirl. Michael Smith is already predicting the Cowboys shouldn’t want to bring back Tony Romo when he’s finally healthy again (he’s assuming of course that Prescott will be a star).

Slow down. Let’s see this kid perform in a real NFL game before proclaiming him a future pro bowl quarterback.

Slovakia – England World Cup Qualifiers Match Report

It was slow-going, but England clinched a win at the death against Slovakia’s ten men in Trnava.
Any England fan hoping for a bright new dawn with Allardyce at the helm could end up disappointed on Sunday night’s evidence.

England were drab, but were also the only team pushing for a win, as Slovakia had shown up to defend. The game became especially one-sided after Martin Škrtel saw red for a needless foul on Harry Kane.

But there was no way through, until Adam Lallana finally made England’s advantage count in the 95th-minute: He brought the ball under control and stabbed a left-foot finish beneath Kozáčik after Rose’s cross had been deflected into his path.

Saints lock in Drew Brees for two more seasons

Drew Brees

The Saints have been a mess since winning the Super Bowl, partly due to the draconian punishment handed down by the NFL for Bountygate. As a result they’ve wasted many excellent seasons from Drew Brees.

With Brees getting older the window seems to have closed, particularly with the horrible mess they’ve called a defense in New Orleans. But now that they’ve run Rob Ryan out of town, perhaps they can get the defense back on track.

Meanwhile, Brees still puts up solid numbers, they’ve signed him to an extension, and the Saints have added a nice receiver in Michael Thomas. Can this team compete for the playoff spot? Hard to say, though I’m very interested to see how Thomas does this year from a fantasy point of view now that he’s been named a starter.

Who You Should Bet On To Win Super Bowl LI

Big Ben

The NFL regular season is upon as, and with it, the speculation on whose year 2016-17 will be. So without further ado, let the prognosticating begin.

The Denver Broncos are going to come down from their mile-high perch and won’t repeat as Super Bowl champions. Minus both Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler, the Broncos are in such dire straits at quarterback it’s amazing Tim Tebow isn’t trying out for them again.

Ole Miss collapse caps miserable weekend for SEC

We’ve heard the SEC hype for years, and now after all the smack talk, fans of the conference have to take their medicine.

Ole Miss came out strong, but then utterly wilted in the second half against a resilient Florida State team.

That capped a miserable weekend for the SEC, even with Alabama’s destruction of USC.

Looking back, an analyst on ESPN subbing for Mike & Mike (I can’t remember his name) summed up the SEC’s run pretty nicely when he pointed out that most of the success comes down to two all-time great coaches – Nick Saben and Urban Meyer. Outside of that, what can SEC fans really point to?

If you’re a Georgia, Tennessee Ole Miss fan, can you really pump your chest about the SEC when your team hasn’t won a title? Does it really make you feel good to pump your chest when the Alabama team that regularly crushes you is carrying the SEC banner?
