Bullz-Eye.com’s Badass Bracket

Who is the biggest badass in the entertainment industry? Is it John McLane from the “Die Hard” series? How about Maximus Decimus Meridius from “Gladiator” or The Bride from “Kill Bill”? Bullz-Eye.com is currently running the eight first-round match ups and everyone has a vote.

As of right now, #1 seed Jack Bauer is getting upset by #16 seeded Indiana Jones while Doc Holiday and Ash Williams are in a tight battle. So who’s the baddest? Make sure to vote by clicking here.

College Hoops: #1 vs. #2 on Sunday!

Despite Wisconsin’s loss at Michigan State earlier in the week, Sunday’s game against Ohio State is still a heavyweight matchup. OSU is a game ahead of UW in the standings, but they lost to the Badgers earlier in the year, so if Wisconsin can pull the upset, they’ll be in the driver’s seat for the Big Ten title. I think a #1 seed is also probably on the line for UW, though conceivably, they could lose to the Buckeyes, beat the Spartans next weekend and win the Big Ten Tournament and still get a #1 seed.

It’s not often we get a #1/#2 matchup in season, and despite the UW loss, it’s still a huge game (4 PM ET on CBS).

On Saturday, be sure to check out #8 Pittsburgh at #12 Georgetown (2 PM ET on CBS).

A playoff system makes too much sense

As I sit here watching the Rose Bowl at my in-laws’, it occurs to me: who cares? Despite being the “granddaddy of them all,” the game has no championship implications other than to muddy the waters. If Michigan looks great and Florida lays an egg against Ohio State in the title game, there will be a lot of talk about how there should have been an OSU/Michigan rematch. If USC dominates and the Gators get blown out, I’m sure all the Trojan fans will complain that they got screwed. You don’t hear this kind of talk after a playoff. The championship is settled on the field, right where it should be.

This ongoing BCS mess is befuddling. Everyone I’ve talked to is in favor of a playoff in college football and opposing arguments are mostly half-hearted, devil’s advocate-type responses. (I know it’s not a statistically accurate survey, but the results are overwhelming.) When was the last time there has been such a consensus amongst the sports public without any positive movement whatsoever?

Couch Potato Alert (12/15)

College hoops picks back up this weekend with a great matchup between #2 Pittsburgh and #7 Wisconsin. The Badgers should give the Panthers all they can handle in Madison. Also, you’ve got the opportunity to see Greg Oden play when his Buckeyes face the Cincinnati Bearcats on CBS. In the NFL, there are several great matchups with the Jets/Vikings, the Eagles/Giants and the Chiefs/Chargers all having big playoff implications. In the BE Game of the Week the Bengals visit the Colts. In the NBA, tonight’s Rockets/Lakers game on ESPN is the best matchup of the weekend.
