In the wake of two more defendants accepting plea agreements for their involvement in a seven state wide illegal gambling and dog-fighting ring, Michael Vick may soon reach a deal himself. If he does reach a plea agreement, Vick is likely to face jail time.

Vick’s motivation to enter a guilty plea is likely fueled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office announcement last month that it will seek a new “superseding” indictment against Vick by the end of August. With the cooperation of Vick’s three co-defendants, there will likely be new, and more specific, allegations against Vick. The federal grand jury in Richmond is expected to hand up that indictment sometime early next week.

Take the plea agreement Mike, face jail time and then try to slowly piece your life back together. Nobody’s listening to your cries for innocence anymore and even before the three other stoogies turned, the feds had enough to burry you. It’s time past due for your to serve your punishment like the rest of the human race. You’re not special, even though it appears all who has ever been around you as told you that you are.

If Vick does take the plea agreement and faces jail time, Roger Goodell should allow Atlanta enough time to make the decision on whether or not to release him. If Goodell suspends Vick the Falcons can’t cut him until the punishment is served, and that wouldn’t be fair to have to wait if they do indeed want to move on.

Two more defendants joined Tony Taylor in agreeing to set up plea hearings in the dog fighting case that includes Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. Purnell Peace and Quanis L. Phillips are likely to plead guilty and in the process might divulge any information they have that pertains to Vick and these charges.

“There’s no telling until the actual pleas, but this doesn’t sound like good news for Michael Vick,” said Kent Alexander, once the U.S. Attorney in Atlanta and now Emory University’s general counsel. “Usually, if people plead guilty early in a case they may be cooperating with the government. That’s what it sounds like here.”

Well Mikey, it looks like you gave up your career and millions of dollars for a bunch of idiots that ended up punking you in the end anyway. I hope it was all worth it, because if you don’t go to jail, you’re certainly set to face a suspension from Roger Goodell and the Falcons’ brass have all but forgot your name.

People like Dan Reeves and Arthur Blank warned you that hanging out with delinquents might just make you one some day, but you didn’t listen. And now you’re all alone.

It appears NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will take his time deciding whether or not to suspend Falcons quarterback Michael Vick for breaking the player conduct policy after allegedly participating in illegal gambling and dog fighting.

No timetable has been set for Goodell’s decision, NFL vice president of public relations Greg Aiello said.

“No decision’s been made,” Aiello said. “The commissioner has already said he’ll get to it as soon as possible.”

Good for Goodell, he should take his time dealing with something as serious as this. Most of us want to see a quick and serious punishment handed down to Vick, but maybe the latter can’t happen if the former does. With the way Goodell handled Pacman and Chris Henry’s legal situations, I think he’s earned the public’s respect that he’ll eventually make the right decision regarding Vick.

The Falcons on the other hand, should want an immediate suspension. Everything out of their camp is about how players and coaches have moved on. They’ve got a season to think about and the sooner Vick is handed a yearlong suspension (or worse) by the league, the better for them. They don’t need any more distractions.

Instead of Monster Park field, the San Francisco 49ers have decided to name their home digs, Bill Walsh Field, in honor of the late head coach who passed away recently due to complications with leukemia.

This is an outstanding decision and one that should be celebrated around the league. With all the commercialism going on in the NFL today – especially with stadium names – I think it’s great to see a team honor such a prominent figure like Walsh. I think more teams should honor icons like Walsh, instead of selling out to the highest sponsor just to make a quick buck.

Walsh meant so much to that organization and to the league in general – excellent job 49ers.
