Garrett staying put, what’s next for Ravens, Falcons?

ESPN.com is reporting that Cowboys’ offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has decided to stay in Dallas and not accept the head-coaching job in Baltimore or Atlanta.

“This is huge because changing systems right now would have been really tough on Tony [Romo],” a source told ESPN’s Ed Werder.

Jones, who hired Garrett last year before hiring coach Wade Phillips, apparently convinced him his future was just as bright with the Cowboys, who are coming off a 13-3 regular season with eight of his offensive players going to the Pro Bowl.

Jones probably had to promise more than money to Garrett in order to keep him. I bet Phillips has one, maybe two more years (tops) in Dallas before Garrett becomes head coach. Jones found Garrett in Miami and you knew he wasn’t going to allow his creation to escape out the back door.

So what do the Ravens and Falcons do next? Apparently Baltimore is after Eagles’ secondary coach John Harbaugh, but it’s a little strange that they haven’t made more of a pitch to keep defensive guru Rex Ryan. My prediction is Atlanta will wind up hiring Ryan now that Garrett and Colts’ assistant head coach Jim Caldwell are unavailable. Ryan was close to landing the Chargers gig last year before they hired Norv Turner.

Jessica Simpson’s plan to destroy the Cowboys

The Onion is at it again.

Here’s an excerpt.

Speaking to reporters she had invited into her impenetrable subterranean Texas lair on Monday, Jessica Simpson gloated over the victory she recently achieved after nearly two years of using her personal charms, her unique brand of cunning, and every resource at her disposal to meticulously plot the downfall of the Cowboys’ 2007 season.

“Ever since I was a little girl growing up in football-obsessed Texas, it’s been a dream of mine to completely bring the evil, arrogant Cowboys organization and its boorish and cocky fans to their knees. But the suave and sophisticated players on that team are nigh-unapproachable for a nice country girl like me,” Simpson declared from her Throne of Thorns, situated in the surveillance room of her headquarters. “And then I saw Tony. Instantly I knew that he was the weak link, the keystone, the only one for me to exploit.”

Wear this Packer jersey, son, or I’ll tape it to you

Growing up, we all learned not to piss dad off, especially when it came to honoring his favorite football team. This is a bit much, though.

Upset that his 7-year-old son wouldn’t wear a Green Bay Packers jersey during the team’s playoff victory Saturday, a man restrained the boy for an hour with tape and taped the jersey onto him.

Mathew Kowald was cited for disorderly conduct in connection with the incident with his son at their home in Pardeeville, Lt. Wayne Smith of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department said.

The 36-year-old Kowald was arrested Monday after his wife told authorities about the incident. Kowald was taken to the county jail and held until Wednesday, when he pleaded no contest, paid a fine of $186 and was released.

Boy, Packer fans sure take this time of year seriously.

It was bound to happen: Moss finds trouble

WDBO-AM Radio is reporting that Patriots’ wide receiver Randy Moss has been hit with a restraining order.

New England Patriot’s wide receiver Randy Moss has been hit with a temporary injunction for protection against dating violence.

According to the affidavit Moss committed a battery upon the victim causing serious injury and then refused to allow her to seek medical attention.

The affidavit out of Broward County reveals Moss cannot come within 500 hundred feet of the victim and cannot use or possess firearms.

Give him credit – at least he lasted this long before finally finding trouble. It’s important to note, however, that no criminal charges have been filed against Street Randy. It doesn’t sound like this will be a huge issue, but still, Bill Belichick and the rest of the Patriots don’t need this heading into their biggest game of the season.

Who says chivalry is dead? Pacman punches a woman

Current/former Tennessee Titans’ cornerback and national moron Pacman Jones reportedly sucker-punched a woman lawyer at a (shocker!) strip club in Atlanta.

Jones apparently entered the manager’s office, accusing the club of stealing money from him and falsely accusing his entourage of owing a tab. Jones reportedly lunged at the woman multiple times during the meeting, in what the lawyer said was an attempt at grave bodily harm. Jones didn’t connect until afterwards in the hallway, when he reached around a security guard to “sucker punch” the woman. Not only could this be a violation of Jones’ parole, it could result in the league delaying his March return to football activities, and certainly make the Titans less willing to welcome him back.

What’s most amazing about this unbelievable ass clown is that he keeps he keeps applying for reinstatement to the NFL. He and his cronies go out to a strip club, shoot two people, and then he wants to know when he can get back into the NFL. Then he gets busted racing his orange Lamborghini with no license and expired plates, and then he wants to know when he can get back into the NFL. Now he punches a woman in yet another strip club incident, and no doubt he’ll file for reinstatement into the NFL within a month.

This guy needs to be in jail, period. He’s clearly a complete head case and a risk to society.

Update: The woman withdrew the assault complaint.
