Need help at PF? The Hornets’ David West is still on the waiver wire in many leagues. He’s been in the starting lineup since Jamaal Magloire was traded away and has responded with some very good play, averaging 14.2 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.6 spg over the last five games, while shooting 49.2% from the field and a stellar 91.7% from the charity stripe.

West was the 18th pick in 2003 draft, so the kid has talent.

Suns.com is reporting that Boris Diaw will get the start Thursday against the Pistons. He is replacing James Jones in the lineup, which will move Shawn Marion back to SF. In the last two games, Diaw averaged 13 points, nine assists, seven boards and three blocks in 29 minutes. Expect him to be a solid contributor in the Suns up-tempo offense as long as he’s getting that many minutes.

Shaq out 2-4 weeks

Shaquille O’Neal is going to miss 2-4 weeks with a sprained ankle. This isn’t good for the Heat, who need every opportunity to play as a unit before the playoffs. With newcomers Antoine Walker, Jason Williams, James Posey and Gary Payton, it’s going to take a while for the team to gel.

O’Neal’s injury gives fantasy owners an opportunity – Alonzo Mourning. He’s in good shape and is playing with good energy. Projecting his stats from his stint with Miami last season to 30 minutes a game, he should average around 11 points, 9 boards and 3-4 blocks.

got Smush?

Sure, Kobe Bryant hit the game winner, but check out Smush Parker’s line from the Lakers’ 99-97 victory over the Nuggets in Denver: 40 minutes, 20 points on 8-12 shooting (including 3-7 from three-point land), six assists and four rebounds. The key number is the minutes – the only two Lakers getting more time were Bryant and Lamar Odom. HC Phil Jackson likes this guy and he’s going to get a chance to play.

He went undrafted in most fantasy leagues.
