Kevin Love explodes for 34 first quarter points

Much of the talk this offseason revolved around Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors, with little attention paid to the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers after all the hoopla died down.

But the Cavs are even better this year, and Kevin Love is one of the most important factors. Love became much more comfortable with his role as the Cavs finished off their championship run last season, and now we’re seeing how potent a comfortable Kevin Love can be throughout the season. His 34-point first quarter last night is just one of many examples.

The Warriors are starting to reach their potential, but the Cavs are waiting . . .

Ridiculous punishment for Notre Dame

I’m not a Notre Dame fan. Frankly I root against them most of the time, so this isn’t a take from a rabid fan who can’t be impartial.

The NCAA has caught Notre Dame in an academic scandal, and has decided that the Fighting Irish will have to vacate wins over several seasons.

This punishment is idiotic. It punishes all of the players who didn’t do anything wrong. It distorts actual results on the field, and just proves again that the NCAA is out of touch.

Washington destroys Oregon

We’re starting to detect a pattern. The Huskies are treating its Pac-12 rivals like a baby treats its diaper, as Chris Peterson leads Washington on a serious revenge tour through the conference.

Meanwhile, the seat keeps getting hotter for Mark Helfrich, who somehow thought adding Brady Hoke as defensive coordinator was somehow a good idea. After getting mauled for 70 points, Oregon fans can feel the pain felt in Michigan during Hoke’s miserable reign there.
