Ocho Cinco needs a change of scenery

If Chad Johnson isn’t complaining about his situation in Cincinnati at this weekend’s Pro Bowl, he’s busy pushing members of the NFL’s media relations department.

Before leaving, Johnson was stopped by a member of the league’s media relations department (Michael Lipman) for me and another reporter. I asked Johnson whether he was having a better off-season after venting some of his frustration publicly at the Super Bowl.

Johnson walked off without answering the question. Lipman tried speaking with him again, only to get shoved. The much-bigger Johnson then stared down Lipman before stepping onto a jitney headed toward the players’ hotel.

CJ would probably benefit from taking the rest of the offseason to figure out what he wants. If he wants out of Cincinnati, he needs to go to the Bengals and demand a trade (and stick by the decision). If he’s just blowing off steam, hey, everyone’s human and he’ll probably apologize for the incident soon. But pushing members of the media relations department probably isn’t the best way to approach his problems.

He’s always been a loveable player, but he’s slowly converting from Ocho Cinco to Baby T.O.

Whack job plotted to shoot up Super Bowl

SPORTSbyBROOKS.com has a story about a would-be bar owner who plotted to shoot people at the Super Bowl because he was angry at being denied a liquor license.

The crazy guy behind the plot is named ****, and he “recently purchased an AR-15 assault rifle from the Scottsdale Gun Club (and) mailed to media outlets eight copies of a manifesto. In it he explained why he was planning to kill people at the Super Bowl.”

What is wrong with people? He was denied a liquor license so he decided to take innocent people’s lives? I refuse to print this ass clown’s name so that he doesn’t get any more national recognition for being a selfish prick.

Spags sticking with Giants

Steve Spagnuolo has decided to remain defensive coordinator of the New York Giants. Spagnuolo was interviewed by the Redskins earlier this week, but was never officially offered the job.

Steve Spagnuolo will remain with the New York Giants and is not a candidate for the Redskins job according to a source with knowledge of the situation. A formal announcement is likely to come later today, with a new three-year deal from the Giants on its way, too.

Spagnuolo returned to the New York area this morning. Jim Fassel was seen by many as the frontrunner to get this job, with Spagnuolo emerging late. It would appear to be headed that way now.

I think it’s novel that Spags is sticking with the Giants. If the Giants’ defense plays as well as they did this year, he’ll have plenty of offers again in the future.
