Phils’ Kendrick traded to Japan for hot dog eater

Kyle Kendrick showed up to Philadelphia Phillies’ training camp over the weekend and was completely shocked to find out that he was traded to Japan’s Yomiuri Giants for “Kobayashi Iwamura.”

If only Kobayashi Iwamura was real, that is. Teammate Brett Myers set up the elaborate prank, which included manager Charlie Manuel, assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr. and even the media.

Myers was freaking hilarious. This poor kid is in agony and Myers goes, “I’m sorry man. I’m real sorry man. Does the guy throw hard? Does he have a good sinker, or what?”

“Kid got traded for a hot dog eater!”

Wife of victim in Pacman shooting says Goodell reneged on promise

Kathy Urbanaski, the wife of Tommy Urbanaski, the man parlayed in a Las Vegas strip club shooting involving Pacman Jones, says NFL commishoner Roger Goodell lied to her about helping with Tommy’s medical expenses.

“Roger Goodell told me, ‘You don’t have to call us. We’ll get in touch with you,'” Kathy Urbanski recalled angrily. “Now I realize he meant, ‘Don’t call us, we’ll call you.'”

The total tab for the 44-year-old former Commack, L.I., resident’s rehab is expected to cost millions of dollars.

“I’m sorry about the tragedy the family is going through, but I don’t feel we have any responsibility,” Goodell said before the Super Bowl. Goodell said that Kathy Urbanski agreed with him during their chat.

Not true, she said.

“This is a David-and-Goliath situation, with working people against a very greedy and evil corporation called the NFL,” she said.

Why would Goodell promise to take care of any medical expenses in an off-field incident? Just because one of his players was reportedly involved, doesn’t mean the league is responsible. Something smells funny about this situation.

Pettitte’s father got HGH from Andy’s ex-high school teammate

The AP is reporting that Andy Pettitte’s father got the HGH he supplied to his son from one of the pitcher’s ex-high school teammates.

Kelly Blair, who owns a gym in Pasadena, Texas, was the source of the substance, the New York Daily News reported Sunday.

Pettitte, who has admitted using HGH in 2004, told congressional attorneys that he received it from his father, Tom Pettitte, whose has had serious health problems. In his deposition, Pettitte said his father got the drugs from a trainer at a gym where he worked out but did not identify the trainer.

The Daily News reported that Blair sold HGH and steroids to customers at 1-on-1 Elite Personal Fitness. Blair did not respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment.

Weird. Even stranger is the fact that Pettitte got the HGH from his daddy.

Lake walks out of Bush deposition due to gunman

Lloyd Lake, the man claiming he gave Reggie Bush and his family illegal payments and gifts while the star football player was at USC, walked out of Bush’s deposition earlier this week because an unidentified armed man was present in the conference room.

“It was outrageous,” Watkins said. “Never in my 12 years of litigation have I ever encountered anything like this. Cornwell elected to bring a friend with a gun to the deposition. And I would not allow my client to be intimidated and go forward under those circumstances.”
Cornwell said he felt he needed a security guard present at the deposition because of past threats he alleged Lake and his attorney have made against him and Bush.

“Given Lake’s criminal background, threats made to me in January 2006 by counsel (Watkins) regarding his criminal background and his gang affiliation and counsel’s inability to control his client, plus recent threats made by Mr. Lake against Reggie Bush, we were advised to take appropriate security precautions when in Lake’s presence,” Cornwell said. “Despite his public accusations, this is the second time that the plaintiff has refused to tell his story under oath.

“This lawsuit stuff is for grown folks. Obviously, this crew ain’t ready.”

I didn’t know “grown folks” felt the need to have an armed bodyguard present for a legal issue. If Bush and his attorney felt threatened by Lake, why not hire actual security guards to oversee the conference? Why have an unidentified gunman present? This case just gets more bizarre by the day.

Ex-Ram suing Pats for Super Bowl XXXVI spygate

Willie Gary, a former member of the St. Louis Rams’ Super Bowl XXXVI team, is part of a group bringing a lawsuit against the New England Patriots for cheating.

New England and coach Bill Belichick illegally videotaped a Rams walk-though before the game to gain an unfair advantage, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, the host city of the game.

Willie Gary, who played on the Rams Super Bowl team, wants each member of the Rams’ Super Bowl roster to receive $25,000 – the difference between the bonuses paid to the losing team and the winning team.

A ticket broker, Kevin Hacker, who attended the Super Bowl, asked the federal court to grant 72,922 people who attended the game a full refund. At a face value of $400 per ticket, that would mean the NFL would have to return $29,168,800.

Yeah, yeah – and I need $25,000 too for betting on the Rams that year (legally of course). I totally bet $25,000…so it would be great if the courts would rule in our favor so we could get on with our lives.
