In March, the Los Angeles Lakers are 5-0 when Kobe Bryant scores more than 40 points, and 0-8 when he doesn't. To beat the Lakers you simply have to keep Kobe in check. Houston is one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. They rank first in the NBA in field goal percentage defense (42.6 percent) and second in scoring defense (91.0 ppg). LA is coming off a 88-86 loss to Memphis in a game where they shot 34.4% from the field. Kobe finished with 23 points on 7-of-26 shooting. The only time this season the Lakers shot a poorer percentage than they did on Tuesday was their last meeting with Houston. The Rockets are now at full strength with Yao Ming back and have won 10 of their last 13. Houston's defense will keep Kobe under 40 and that's all it takes to beat LA. Houston, a two point favorite, should cover.
