Here are a couple headline stories from KFFL.com as NFL teams have until 6:00pm to make final roster cuts:
Cleveland Browns
Zac Jackson of ClevelandBrowns.com is reporting that the Browns have acquired center Hank Fraley from the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Browns has been searching for months to replace the injured LeCharles Bentley and out of all the centers its had come through its revolving door recently, Fraley is certainly the best option. Fraley has been a longtime starter for the Eagles, but missed eight games last season and lost his job to Jamaal Jackson in preseason.
Also on the Browns front, the team has decided to part ways with running back Lee Suggs and put William Green on IR, which will end his season.
Houston Texans
Dominick Davis of the Houston Texans was also put on IR today, which will end the running back’s season.
New England Patriots/Oakland Raiders
In other trade news, KFFL.com is reporting that the Raiders have traded WR Doug Gabriel to the New England Patriots, but the compensation for Gabriel has not been announced yet.
Gabriel leaving certainly means that Jerry Porter will probably take over his starting role again in Oakland – a role he had lost when he declared that he wanted the team to trade him.
Washington Redskins
It appears that Shawn Springs will be doubtful for the season opener because of an abdomen injury the AP is reporting. With Springs joining Clinton Portis as players being out with injuries and coupled with offensive scoring problems, the Redskins really look questionable coming out of the gate in ’06.
