B.E.N.G.A.L.S. That’s how you spell dysfunctional.
A week ago the Bengals crushed a pretty good Titans team and everything seemed to be looking up again in Cincy. Yet Sunday night, they turned in an absolute crap show against the Steelers and I’m not only referring to their performance on the field.
Pittsburgh is good, but they should have lost last night by two touchdowns with how many times they coughed up the ball in their own territory. Yet they easily won 24-10.
After producing an impressive touchdown on the opening possession of the game, the Bengals’ offense was atrocious. Carson Palmer overthrew receivers multiple times, T.J. Houshmanzdeh dropped a touchdown pass that would have made it a one-possession game in the fourth quarter and overall, the Bengals capitalized on none of the opportunities the Steelers gave them. Yet, nobody appeared to want to take responsibility. Palmer bitched at his receivers, Housh bitched at the refs and Chad Johnson completely forgot what down it was at the end of the game when he caught a ball on fourth down and headed out of bounds instead of at the first down marker. Maybe he was worried about what celebration he was going to do if he eventually got into the end zone.
I don’t blame the Bengals’ woes all on Marvin Lewis, but something has to be done because that team is in utter disarray. People still like to talk about how good that offense is, but wake up – it’s a mess too.
