Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said wide receiver Andre Johnson “looks like” he’ll play this week. Johnson partook in phases of both Wednesday and Thursday practices, which is always an encouraging sign.

“I would think right now it sure looks that way (that he’ll play), but let’s see. Let’s see how he comes out of today in the morning. Let’s see how he does tomorrow.”

Owners of Johnson who have been killed the past six weeks because of his knee injury aren’t out of the woods yet; although if he practices Friday there’s a good chance he’ll play this Sunday. Before his injury, he had two monstrous games at the beginning of the season, totaling 14 receptions for 262 yards and three touchdowns.

Update: Check that, Johnson has been ruled out for Week 9 and will now eye Week 11 for his return (the Texans have a bye in Week 10).
