According to NFL.com, Buffalo has traded LB Takeo Spikes and QB Kelly Holcomb to Philadelphia in exchange for DT Darwin Walker and a conditional draft pick in 2008.

Given Spikes’ injury history the past two seasons with the Bills, this move is not a surprise. In trading Spikes and Willis McGahee, Buffalo is heading in a new direction for ’07. As of right now though, the Bills don’t have a replacement for McGahee and their linebackers are looking awfully thin with Spikes and London Fletcher-Baker gone. We’ll have to see where GM Marv Levy goes from here as far as the draft. By trading Holcomb, Buffalo has also made a firm commitment to J.P. Losman and Walker will either push John McCargo to nose tackle or the bench.

As for the Eagles, Spikes should be an upgrade over Dhani Jones at the strong side linebacker spot. When healthy, Spikes is solid in run support and not to mention an outstanding leader. Philly had issues stopping the run last year when MLB Jeremiah Trotter excited the field, so Spikes is a nice addition.
