The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that the Falcons are heavily considering dealing running back T.J. Duckett.

Just two days ago, Sports Illustrated ran a story that Duckett was apparently not for sale and would suit up for the Falcons in ’06.

But with Duckett set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season and the emergence of rookie third round pick Jerious Norwood, the time to get compensation for Duckett will never be higher than it is right now.

According to reports, four teams have inquired about Duckett’s services, but only one, the New York Jets, have been confirmed. It has been said that the Jets have offered the Falcons a third round pick in 2007, but the latest rumors have New York dealing wide receiver Justin McCareins for the former 2002 first round pick.

Atlanta is in need of a third receiver and McCareins would fit that bill nicely since Brian Finneran was lost to season ending knee surgery late last month.

All of this is still speculation right now of course, but it is a very real possibility that Duckett may be suiting up for the Falcons for the last time in Green Bay tonight.
