Poor Herb Sendeck. He’s one of the most underrated coaches in the country, having led the usually outmatched Wolfpack to three consecutive NCAA appearances. Unfortunately, he’s 3-21 against Duke. Tonight he took is team into Durham and they played the Blue Devils nose to nose for 35 minutes, only to lose, 81-68. The game was much closer than the score would indicate. The key moment in the game came with just under five minutes to play. Sean Dockery was fouled while making a three-point shot, then rebounded his own missed free throw and found Lee Melchionni for another trey. The Blue Devils eventually grew the lead to 13 by taking care of the ball and hitting their free throws.

Sophomore center Cedric Simmons played an outstanding game, leading the Wolfpack (14-3) with 28 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks. J.J. Redick scored 28 points for the Blue Devils (17-0) while also dishing out six assists.
