Hurricane Gustav forces scramble for Louisiana teams

Hurricane Gustav has forced the New Orleans Saints to move their practices this week to Indianapolis. They’ll spend the week there, preparing for their September 7th opener against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Saints will be practicing at the Colts new home, Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s too bad that circumstances outside of the team’s controls will play a factor into how well they do on the field.

SI.com has the latest on how each team is dealing with the situation. The Saints aren’t the only team affected by the storm:

Across south Louisiana, college and pro teams spent the weekend packing up and leaving their regular training sites for safe havens away from the coast while, in many cases, trying to remain focused on the season ahead.

The Louisiana Superdome will not be used for shelter, and the Saints still hope to play their home opener there on Sunday.
