The Pittsburgh Steelers continued their dominance of the Browns, beating Cleveland 10-6 on a gusty Sunday night.

• The Steelers won their 10th straight over the Browns, and now own the NFL’s longest active win streak against a single opponent.
• Willie Parker topped 100 yards for the second straight week.
• The Browns rushed for 53 yards and are averaging 39.2 rushing yards in their last four games against the Steelers.

The Browns had their opportunities, but could never convert. In the first half, Derek Anderson threw two costly interceptions, the second one deep in Pittsburgh territory that cost the Browns an opportunity for points before halftime. Then, late in the third quarter down 10-0, Cleveland had a first and 10 at the Pittsburgh 11-yard line, but proceeded backwards after Jamal Lewis was stuffed for a three yard loss on second down and Kellen Winslow was called for a false start on 3rd and 7 from the 8-yard line. Anderson proceeded to throw an incomplete pass on the next play and the Browns had to settle for a Phil Dawson field goal. The Browns’ offense just couldn’t sustain momentum all night.

As the score suggests, the Steelers weren’t overly impressive but the weather conditions played into that. Battling a sore shoulder, Ben Roethlisberger threw for 186 yards and a touchdown, while Willie Parker rushed for over 100 yards for the second straight week. As previously noted, the Pittsburgh defense proved to be the difference, forcing two Browns’ turnovers and holding them to field goals when they reached Steeler-territory.

Much of Week 2 has come and gone, and road teams were 9-5 in Sunday’s games. Here is just about everything you need to know (fantasy-wise) from Sunday’s action.

Ben Roethlisberger has been fighting a sore shoulder, but he manned-up in tough conditions tonight, throwing for 186 yards and a TD in an important divisional matchup…Hines Ward (5-59-1) and Santonio Holmes (5-94) were his main targets, but Heath Miller (2-33) was also involved…Willie Parker rushed 28 times for 105 yards, while Rashard Mendenhall didn’t register a single carry. This is the Willie Parker show for now…The Steelers defense showed up with two sacks and two picks, and allowing just six points to the Browns…Derek Anderson had a rough game (166 yards, 2 INT) and Braylon Edwards (3-32) wasn’t much help…Kellen Winslow (7-55) was the only bright spot in the Cleveland passing game and he wasn’t even on the field for the final play…In a tough matchup, Jamal Lewis grinded 22 touches (including three catches) into 66 total yards.

49ers 33 @ Seahawks 30
All in all, a pretty mediocre performance by the Seattle defense, even though they posted eight sacks, forced a fumble and returned an interception for a TD. The fantasy points are nice, but they allowed 26 points to the 49ers offense…J.T. O’Sullivan seems to be settling into Mike Martz’s offense. He had 321 passing yards and threw a TD to Bryant Johnson (who posted 6-78-1 in the win)…Isaac Bruce showed up with a 4-158 day, while Frank Gore had a solid all-around game, turning 24 touches (including five catches) into 99 yards and a TD. For those that were worried about Martz forgetting about his RB, I think the first two weeks of the season indicate that Gore is very much on Martz’s mind…Vernon Davis failed to register a catch, which is pretty worrisome considering all the success O’Sullivan had through the air…Matt Hasselbeck’s woes continue (189 passing yards, 2 INT) – he just doesn’t have the weapons to throw to. It might be a good time to try to buy low, as he should get Deion Branch and Bobby Engram back in Week 5…With Maurice Morris out with an injury, Julius Jones took advantage by turning 29 touches into 141 yards and a score. He looks like a solid start as long as Morris is out…Rookie TE John Carlson went for 6-78 and should be a fringe starting TE as long as Seattle is having WR troubles…Speaking of wideouts, Billy McMullen was the best of the bunch with three catches for 48 yards.

- Aaron Rodgers looked fantastic for the second straight week as the Packers put up 24 fourth quarter points in a 48-25 thrashing of the Lions.

- The upstart Bills pulled off one of the better upsets of the day, beating the winless Jaguars 20-16 in Jacksonville.

- The Bengals’ offense looked brutal again this week in the Titans’ 24-7 win in Cincinnati.

- For the second straight week, the Panthers pulled off a fourth quarter comeback, this time rallying to beat the Bears 20-17 in their home opener.

- Jason Campbell and the Redskins’ offense bounced back from a dismal Week 1 performance to beat the Saints 29-24.

- The Colts avoided going 0-2 for the first time since Peyton Manning’s rookie season in 1998 by beating the Vikings 18-15.

- Eli Manning threw for three touchdowns in the Giants’ 41-13 romp over St. Louis.

- Despite rumors circulating that head coach Lane Kiffin could be fired Monday, the Raiders cruised to a 23-8 win over division rival Kansas City.

- After a controversial call went in their favor, the Broncos rallied to beat the Chargers 39-38 after Denver went for two with only 24 seconds remaining in the game.

- The Bucs’ defense harassed rookie quarterback Matt Ryan as Tampa beat the Falcons 24-9 to earn their first win of the season.

- Matt Cassel won his first career start as the Patriots beat Brett Favre and the Jets 19-10.

- Kurt Warner threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns in Arizona’s 31-10 win over the Dolphins.

- The Seahawks fell to 0-2 after losing 33-30 to the 49ers in overtime. Matt Hasselbeck threw two interceptions in the loss.

Joe Nedney kicked a 40-yard field goal in overtime to lift the San Francisco 49ers to a 33-30 win over the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field Sunday.

• This is just the third time in the last five seasons in which the 49ers scored at least 30 points in a road game.
• After losing in his first career NFL start a week ago, J.T. O’Sullivan threw for 321 yards on 20-of-32 passing, including a TD.
• The four-time defending NFC West champion Seahawks (0-2) lost their first two games of the season for the first time since 2002.

The Seahawks built an early 14-0 lead, but couldn’t sustain it after losing two more wide receivers to injuries. The Seattle defense struggled for the second straight week, which is a bit surprising given the overall talent the Seahawks have on that side of the ball. On a positive note, Julius Jones rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown, but unfortunately he couldn’t mask Matt Hasselbeck’s (189, 2 INTs) rough day.

You knew it was only a matter of time before Mike Martz’s offense started to click. J.T. O’Sullivan threw for over 300 yards and a touchdown, while the ageless one Isaac Bruce caught four passes for a whopping 153 yards. I don’t think this game should be a ringing endorsement for the 49ers’ chances this year, but it’s always impressive when a team can beat the Seahawks in Seattle.

Kurt Warner threw for 361 yards and tossed three touchdowns as the Arizona Cardinals cruised over the Miami Dolphins 31-10 in the desert.

• Arizona’s win was just its second win in 10 all-time meetings between the two clubs.
• Sunday was Anquan Boldin’s first career three-TD game and the first by a Cardinals receiver since Rob Moore against the Redskins on Dec. 7, 1997.
• The Dolphins have lost 11 straight road games dating back to 2006 and are just 7-27 in 34 games since closing 2005 with six straight victories.
• Dating back to last season, the Cardinals have scored 301 points in their last 10 games (30.1 PPG).

So how much can we draw from the Cards after wins over the 49ers and Dolphins? Well for one, Warner looks outstanding in the passing game, even though it’s been against suspect defenses. And even though he remains pissed over his contract situation, Anquan Boldin (6 catches, 140 yards, 3 TDs) has been out-of-this-world impressive.

We’ll see how the Cards do over the next three weeks when they travel to Washington and New York before hosting Buffalo in early October. While those teams aren’t powerhouses, they certainly offer a bigger challenge than San Francisco and Miami, so it’ll be interesting to see how good Arizona actually is.

Matt Cassel passed his first test in replacing the injured Tom Brady, guiding the New England Patriots to a 19-10 win over division rival New York. Jets’ QB Brett Favre threw a costly interception while trying to rally NY late in the game.

Cassel, who hadn’t started at any level since his senior year of high school, was 16-of-23 for 165 yards, Sammy Morris ran for a touchdown and Stephen Gostkowski kicked four field goals.

The Jets and Patriots receiver Randy Moss said New England was still the team to beat even without Brady, who was lost for the season last Sunday when he injured his left knee against Kansas City.

The Patriots (2-0) then showed why, ruining the Jets’ home opener and Favre’s first regular-season home start for New York. New England won its 21st straight regular-season game, and beat the Jets for the eighth straight time at the Meadowlands.

It was easy to get excited about Favre and the Jets after they won their opener, but it was against the Dolphins so maybe we got a little ahead of ourselves. This clearly isn’t the same Patriots team that went 18-0 last year, but at least Cassel looks like he’ll keep them afloat with Brady out. It might be a matter of time before things start to crumble, but for right now New England is still the team to beat in the AFC East. (Although Buffalo looks damn good after two weeks, too.)

For the second straight week, the Chargers lost in the final minute of the game as the Denver Broncos converted a 2-point conversion with 24 seconds left to play to edge San Diego 39-38.

On the Broncos’ game-winning touchdown drive, QB Jay Cutler appeared to fumble while attempting a pass. The Chargers recovered, which would have given them the ball back with under a minute to play and up 38-31, but the officials had blown the whistle to signal an incomplete pass. The call upheld after replays, Denver got the ball back and on fourth down Cutler hit Eddie Royal in the end zone for a four-yard touchdown to make the game 38-37. One play later, the Broncos converted the eventual game-winning 2-point conversion, which was an incredibly gutsy call by head coach Mike Shanahan.

It was a blown call. Replays clearly showed that Culter’s arm wasn’t coming forward and that it was an apparent fumble. San Diego should be 1-1 on the season, but the bottom line is they need to look in the mirror first and foremost. The Chargers took the lead on a 66-yard Darren Sproles touchdown reception and then the defense proceeded to allow the Cutler and the Broncos’ offense to march up the field on the ensuing series.

The Chargers’ defense has looked disastrous in back to back weeks now. It also didn’t help that LaDainian Tomlinson was beat up all week and then could only muster 26 yards on 10 carries. It goes without saying – the Chargers are in trouble. And all of a sudden the Broncos are the best team in the AFC West.

Things were quite different for rookie QB Matt Ryan and Falcons this week as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers soundly defeated Atlanta 24-9 at Raymond James Stadium.

Tampa intercepted Ryan twice in the game, the first one coming on the Falcons’ first drive, which the Bucs eventually turned into a touchdown. Ryan was just 13 of 33 passing for 158 yards and started the game 0 of 9 through the air. After rushing for 220 yards last week against the Lions, Michael Turner finished with only 42 yards on 14 carries.

Brian Griese was efficient in taking over for Jeff Garcia (ankle) throwing a touchdown pass in the win. Earnest Graham chipped in 116 yards on the ground and added a 68-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

The story of this game was how Monte Kiffin’s defense was once again owned the Falcons. Ryan was under constant pressure all game and while the rookie was incredibly inaccurate, a lot of that had to do with Kiffin disguising his defensive fronts. The Bucs also did a nice job offensively on third downs in the first half when they built a 17-0 lead.

So did Griese do enough to win the Bucs’ starting quarterback job? He wasn’t spectacular, but he certainly made enough plays for Tampa to cruise to a victory.

Aaron Rodgers threw for 328 yards and three touchdowns as the Green Bay Packers scored 24 fourth quarter points in a 48-25 rout of the Detroit Lions.

Green Bay led 21-0 midway through the second quarter, but fell behind by a point with 7:41 left after Calvin Johnson caught his second TD in the fourth quarter.

The Packers went back ahead with a field goal on the ensuing drive, then turned the game back into the rout it had been with three straight interceptions.

Charles Woodson and Nick Collins returned two of the picks for touchdowns, giving Green Bay a lopsided lead again.

Is anyone else tired of the Aaron Rodgers-Brett Favre comparisons yet? Every time the kid completes a pass the announcers can’t wait to say, “Boy, Rodgers looked like Favre on that pass didn’t he?� I know these are comparisons Rodgers will gladly accept, but let him be his own man. Rodgers was great today – it had nothing to do with Brett Favre. Rodgers has shown tremendous presence so far and the Packers are rallying around their young QB.

What a crushing defeat for the Lions, who had built a nice comeback before the Packers pulled away in the fourth. Calvin Johnson is a special player, but Jon Kinta and the Detroit defense were brutal again for the second week in a row.

On Sunday morning, Lane Kiffin’s job was in jeopardy. By Sunday afternoon, Kiffin’s job may still be in jeopardy, but at least he guided his team to their first win of the season as the Oakland Raiders topped the Kansas City Chiefs 23-8.

Rookie Darren McFadden had a breakout game, rushing for 164 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Thanks to McFadden’s performance, QB JaMarcus Russell didn’t have to do much as he attempted only 17 passes. He finished 6 of 17 for only 55 yards.

Defensively, Oakland game planned to stop Larry Johnson and that’s exactly what they did. Johnson finished with only 22 yards on 12 carries as the Chiefs struggled to move the ball all game. In a strange situation, Damon Huard (who only attmpeted four passes) was replaced by reserve wide receiver Marques Hagans. Later in the game, Tyler Thigpen took over under center for KC, and wound up throwing a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Kiffin situation pans out. Rumor has it that even if Oakland won Sunday, Kiffin will be fired on Monday. Hmm…
