Gina Carano’s brutal workout

This looks difficult…

…but with these kind of results, it’s totally worth it.

Saturday MMA Review: 8/1

Here’s a weekly rundown of MMA content from Ben Goldstein of CagePotato.com:

- In a press conference held Friday, UFC boss Dana White announced the returns of Tito Ortiz and Vitor Belfort, and promised to be close on another deal that will “change the UFC forever.”

- Unfortunately, getting Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko into the UFC remains a pipe-dream — and it will remain that way as long as Fedor has morons like Jerry Millen in his camp.

- Josh Barnett insists that he’s innocent of his latest steroid charge. His urine, however, is telling a different story.

- Speaking of ‘roids, we ran down every single steroid bust in MMA history, from Tim Sylvia’s ill-fated attempt to lose his gut to Kevin Randleman’s infamous “dead human or live animal” incident.

- Strikeforce’s August 15th show continues to undergo major changes, with Renato Sobral vs. Gegard Mousasi brought over from Affliction’s canceled “Trilogy” card, Jay Hieron coming in to replace Joe Riggs, and Mitsuhiro Ishida replacing injured lightweight champ Josh Thomson. Luckily, Gina Carano is still looking quite healthy.

- Also in the wake of Affliction’s collapse, the UFC swooped in to rescue Ben Rothwell, Paul Daley, and Joe Lauzon’s little brother.

- Kenny Florian talked to us about his gameplan for BJ Penn, and set the record straight on that text message he may or may not have sent Penn that may or may not have accused Georges St. Pierre of greasing.

Friday MMA Review 5/8

Here’s a weekly rundown of MMA content from Ben Goldstein of CagePotato.com:

- Gina Carano (above photo) looks pretty hot as a pin-up girl.

- Toby Imada pulled off the most epic submission in MMA history against Jorge Masvidal at last weekend’s Bellator event.

- Hatsu Hioki, Marlon Sandro, Michihiro Omigawa, and Masanori Kanehara advanced to the semi-finals of Sengoku’s featherweight grand prix.

- Team U.S. and Team U.K. split a pair of quarterfinal fights, while a bounty offered for knocked-out teeth hilariously backfired on Wednesday’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter. Plus, will Rampage Jackson return for season 10?

- With Houston Alexander’s hand injury, UFC 98 becomes the second-most-cursed card in UFC history. Nevertheless, the show must go on, and Matt Serra has taken over video-blogging duties to promote it.

- Two new people will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame the day before UFC 100 in July. The smart money’s on Charles “Mask” Lewis and Chuck Liddell.

- Speaking of UFC 100, a new viral effort has been launched to get the crowd to chant “Fedor!” immediately following the Brock Lesnar/Frank Mir main event, pretty much just to screw with Dana White.

- Despite getting KTFO’d, Benji Radach is appealing his April 11th Strikeforce loss to Scott Smith.

- Your chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to UFC 98 from CagePotato.com ends on Monday!

AskMen.com’s Top 99 Women 2009 Edition

After a month of gathering more than 10 million votes, Askmen.com just released their Top 99 Women list for 2009. Anyone ready and willing to waste some time at work, you’ve got to check this thing out because as expected, there are some knockouts on the list.

Here are a couple ladies from the sports world to wet your appetite:

#26 Olympian Leyrn Franco:

Leryn Franco

#39 Former WWE star Stacy Keibler

Stacy Kibler

#73 MMA Fighter Gina Carano

Gina Carano

#83 Tennis star Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova

#91 Race Car Driver Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick

#96 Tennis hottie Ana Ivanovic

Ana Ivanovic

I won’t spoil who’s No. 1, but hot-ass Marisa Miller is in the top 10, so that’s good enough for me.

Boy, is Danica Patrick’s stock slipping or what? She seems to be turning into the Anna Kournikova of the racing world, although at least she did win one major race (out of 64 starts…but still).

Stacy Keibler is smokin’. ESPN needs to pair her with Erin Andrews and have them do SportsCenter a couple times a week. It would be better than the crap they have doing the highlights now.

Head to Askmen.com to check out their Top 99 Women of 2009 list.
