Lane Kiffin calls out Urban Meyer . . . . again

Lane Kiffin just loves jabbing Urban Meyer.
Tennessee coach didn’t mind distinguishing between the two coaches, though he hesitated to predict a winner.
“It’s kind of hard to call,” Kiffin said Tuesday in an interview on WNML-AM in Knoxville. “There’s a bunch of great players on both teams. Florida has so much speed. I think you’ll see Alabama will outscheme Florida, and Florida has given up 28 sacks this year when a bunch of guys come free. But the problem is Superman (quarterback Tim Tebow) is back there. It comes down to can you tackle him.
“It will be a real interesting matchup. Florida has better players, and Alabama has better coaches, so we’ll see.”
The message her is clear. Kiffin thinks Urban Meyer is lucky to have Tim Tebow, and that without Tebow Meye and Florida football will come back down to Earth. You know he’s just waiting for the rematch where he gets to play Florida without Tim Tebow. Next year should be fun.

Florida’s Dunlap arrested for drunken driving
Posted by Anthony Stalter (12/01/2009 @ 9:44 am)
Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested for DUI early Tuesday morning in Gainesville, just days before the Gators’ big clash with Alabama in the SEC Championship.
Per ESPN.com:
Dunlap, a junior from North Charleston, S.C., was arrested at 3:25 a.m. near campus and was booked into the jail at 5:52 a.m., according to police. Kameg said officers responded to a reckless driving complaint and found Dunlap’s 2000 Chrysler stopped at a traffic light near the 200 block of W. 34th Street.
Kameg said officers found Dunlap’s car stopped at a green light.
“They approached the car and found the suspect slumped over in the driver’s seat,” Kameg said. “He appeared to be asleep. The car’s windows were cracked so they attempted to wake him up. They talked to him and he would only open his eyes for a few seconds and then fall back asleep.”
Kameg said officers were able to unlock the car and turn off the ignition. Kameg said officers reported that Dunlap “had trouble listening to instructions.” He was given a field sobriety test and performed “poorly,” according to Kameg. He refused to take a Breathalyzer at the scene, Kameg said.
This is a disastrous situation for both Florida and Dunlap, who is considered a potential first-round draft choice if he leaves after this season. It’s unclear at this point whether or not he’ll be held out of Saturday’s game against Alabama but if he is, the Gators’ pass rush will take a dramatic hit.

What is Verne Lundquist up to tonight?
Posted by John Paulsen (12/06/2008 @ 5:44 pm)
I’m watching the Florida/Alabama game and Tim Brando just popped on the screen to preview the halftime show. When he pitched it back to Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson, the following exchange occurred:
Verne: Tim, it’s great to have you guys with us, it really is. And I look forward to tonight when I know you’ll be the first to pull out your credit card.
Gary: (laughs) We’re going out, I assume.
Verne: This is no night for the squeamish.
What does this mean? Verne is 68, so you wouldn’t expect him to be out too late. But for some reason, I’m picturing an up-all-night Lundquist opening his hotel room door in nothing but an open bathrobe and some tighty whiteys, holding a loaded handgun while a couple of hookers are passed out on the bed. The room is littered with empty whiskey bottles and there are a few lines of cocaine next to a bottle of Viagra on the glass coffee table.
Or is Lundquist talking about eating a steak dinner before hitting the sack no later than 9 PM?
I wish I knew what he was up to tonight.
