Every week, I will highlight a few players to start and a few players to sit at each position. I’m a firm believer in starting your studs, so I won’t suggest you bench Drew Brees or Adrian Peterson because they have tough matchups – just go ahead and keep them in your lineup. Instead, I’ll focus on the borderline guys – players you’ll only start under the right circumstances. It’s important to note that depending on your roster and situation, you may not be able to follow these recommendations. For example, if I suggest you bench a solid starter like Tony Romo, only do so if you have a clearly better option on your bench.

The “love ‘em” players are listed in the order that I’d start them this week.

Michael Vick showed that he still has the speed to cause headaches and with the Lions on tap, he’s probably going to have a big day… Despite missing much of the preseason due to an ankle injury, Donovan McNabb looked pretty good against the Cowboys, all things considered. This week, he has a terrific matchup with the Texans, who gave up over 400 yards passing to Peyton Manning last week. I wouldn’t expect that kind of production from McNabb, but 250 yards and a TD or two is well within reach…Joe Flacco has a big arm, and he threw for 248 yards against the Jets’ vaunted defense last week. With a much easier matchup against the Bengals coming up, he should have a very nice day…Need a sleeper? Jason Campbell threw for 180 yards and a TD against the Titans last week and even ran for 35 yards. With the Rams coming to town, he’s in line for a solid week…Need another sleeper? How about Josh Freeman, who faces a Panthers defense that struggled mightily against Eli Manning and the Giants last week?

DeAngelo Williams had a quiet game last week but had a decent ypc (3.9) against the Giants. The Panthers should be able to stick with the run the entire game and given the Bucs’ problems last week (104 rushing yards allowed, TD), Williams is a threat to go off…Remember what Arian Foster did to the Colts last week? Start Ahmad Bradshaw…LeSean McCoy should have a nice day against the Lions, who did a pretty good job against the Bears’ rush defense last week, but couldn’t stop Matt Forte in the passing game…Carnell Williams isn’t a bad RB2/RB3 this week. The Panthers struggled against the Giants last week and Caddy looked pretty good against the Browns.

Definitely get Anquan Boldin in your starting lineup this week. The Cincy pass defense was shredded by Tom Brady and the Pats last week and Boldin was terrific against the Jets…Louis Murphy is a sleeper that I’d start in a pinch against the Rams, who gave up 266 yards and a TD to Derek Anderson last week…I like both Malcom Floyd and Legedu Naanee this week against a Jags defense that gave up a ton of yardage to Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney and Eddie Royal last week. Phillip Rivers and the SD passing game should have a field day…Rookie Mike Williams (TB) is primed for another good week, as he faces a Carolina pass defense that was shredded by Hakeem Nicks…I love Santana Moss this week against the Texans, who struggled against the pass last week against the Colts. Moss and Donovan McNabb already look like they have a nice rapport.

<img src="http://view3.picapp.com/pictures.photo/image/9748007/cincinnati-bengals-new/cincinnati-bengals-new.jpg?size=500&imageId=9748007" border="0" width="477" title="Cincinnati Bengals v New England Patriots" height="343" oncontextmenu="return false;" ondrag="return false;" onmousedown="return false;" alt="FOXBORO, MA - SEPTEMBER 12: Gary Guyton of the New England Patriots carries the ball in for a touchdown as Carson Palmer of the Cincinnati Bengals tries to tackle during the NFL season opener on September 12, 2010 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

Don’t expect much from Carson Palmer this week against the Ravens. They completely shut down the Jets’ offense last week and Cincy’s isn’t much better…Vince Young is typically a solid start, but the Pittsburgh pass defense made Matt Ryan look bad last week, so Young may not produce at his usual level…I think I’d steer clear of Sam Bradford this week, despite last week’s reasonably solid fantasy performance. The Raiders pass defense was pretty good last season.

The Buffalo running game was pretty ugly against the Dolphins last week, so I’d keep C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson on the bench this week against the Packers…Matt Forte had a nice game last week against the Lions, but that was the Lions. The Cowboys’ rush defense was pretty solid against the Redskins and I don’t think Forte is going to go off in the passing game again this week. He’s startable, but you can probably do better…Speaking of Clinton Portis, the Texans were fairly stout against the run last week and I don’t think Portis is in any danger of going off…The Jets managed a few yards against the Ravens, but I don’t think Cedric Benson is going to have much luck against Baltimore’s front-seven.

I’d leave Eddie Royal on the bench this week. He has missed practice due to a leg injury, and the Seahawks shut down Michael Crabtree last week…I suspect Nmadi Asomugha will be shadowing Mark Clayton after his big week against the Cards, and that doesn’t bode well for his production…Don’t bother with Lee Evans this week. He was a non-factor last week and if he draws Charles Woodson, it probably won’t be pretty.

Every week, I will highlight a few players to start and a few players to sit at each position.
The “love ‘em” players are listed in the order that I’d start them this week.

Brett Favre‘s debut with the Vikings was less than stellar, but he had to shake off the rust and the Browns defense is a little better than people think. He has an outstanding matchup with a Lions defense that got torched by Drew Brees last week…Granted, Matt Schaub and the entire Houston offense looked pathetic last week, but a matchup with the Titans isn’t as bad as it might look on paper. Tennessee gave up 363 yards to Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers last week so Schaub should have some success…Trent Edwards should have a nice game against the Bucs, who were torched by Tony Romo last week, but Edwards needs to throw the ball deep to Terrell Owens and Lee Evans…For the desperate, Jason Campbell, Matt Sanchez, Byron Leftwich and JaMarcus Russell all have good matchups this week.

Even though he struggled last week, Chris Johnson should be in all fantasy lineups with the Texans coming to town…Darren McFadden should find plenty of running room against a struggling Kansas City defense…Clinton Portis is a great start against a Rams defense that let Julius Jones run wild in Week 1…The Cowboys were pushed around against Tampa Bay last week, so I’d expect Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw to have nice games this week as they visit Texas…Larry Johnson didn’t run well against the Ravens last week, but no one really runs well against the Ravens. The Raiders really struggled to stop the run in 2008, but looked a little better on Monday night against the Chargers. Still, LJ should be a decent start this week.

Andre Johnson struggled in Week 1, but the Titans gave up a ton of yards to the Steelers last week, and I’d expect AJ to have a bounce-back game…The Cowboy receivers had a field day against the Bucs last week, so I’d expect Terrell Owens and Lee Evans to have a nice Week 2…Santana Moss had a nightmare of a game against the Giants on Sunday, but with the Rams’ porous defense coming to down, he is primed for a much better outing in Week 2…Justin Gage caught seven passes for 78 yards and a TD against the Steelers in Week 1, and with the Texans coming to down he should find the going even easier. The only worry is that the Titans move the ball too easily on the ground and don’t have to throw the ball…Percy Harvin scored a TD in his first NFL game, and there should be plenty of opportunity to score fantasy points against a Lions defense that was shredded by the Saints last week…Louis Murphy looked great last week, catching four passes for 87 yards and a TD. He actually had another TD called back because of penalty. It’s tough to trust a rookie wideout, especially one that plays for the Raiders. But if you need help at WR, Murphy looks like a sneaky good start against the Chiefs.

Chad Pennington has a rough matchup against the Colts this week. Indy has had a pretty good pass defense for some time now…Whoever starts for the Chiefs faces an Oakland pass defense than is better than advertised…Given the way he played last week, I’d recommend avoiding Jay Cutler this week, as he faces a tough Steelers defense (even though they’re without Troy Polamalu)…Matt Hasselbeck seems like a good start, but the 49er defense locked down Kurt Warner pretty well and might do the same to the Seahawks’ passing game.

There are several top running backs that have tough matchups this week. I’m not recommending that fantasy owners bench these players, but they should consider their options: Matt Forte, Marion Barber, Steve Slaton, Kevin Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson/Darren Sproles and Steven Jackson…The 49er defense completely suffocated the Arizona running game last week, so I wouldn’t expect a repeat performance by Julius Jones in Week 2.

The Giants completely shut down Santana Moss last week, so if they pay the same sort of attention to Roy Williams, I don’t see him having a very good Week 2…The Colts are stingy against the pass, so I’d stay away from Ted Ginn, Davone Bess and Greg Camarillo this week…I’d still start him, but Dwayne Bowe is going to have Nnamdi Asomugha shadowing him all day, and that’s not a good thing.

Note: If you’re looking for a defense to pick up, be sure to check out my DTBWW picks.
