It’s summer, so it’s time to get active

We use so many excuses to avoid getting the exercise we need, but when good weather rolls around it’s hard to justify sitting indoors and withering away on the couch. With summer weather, it should be easy to get out there and get your body moving. And it doesn’t have to be pure fitness activities like running or working out. Think of all the fun things you can do that can make you more active, and more interesting as well.

So, if you’ve been thinking about getting healthy, starting to exercise, load up on protein from places like supplements Australia, eating better, and doing everything you can to improve your physical and mental health, then get reacquainted with these awesome recreation activities.

Biking

You don’t need to get geeked out on a speed bike and start entering races in order to enjoy this activity. Pick up a mountain bike or a road bike and find cool places in your area that you’ve been meaning to check out. Biking provides great exercise along with so many other benefits and you can easily do this with friend or family.

Canoeing

This has become extremely popular all over the country, whether you have lakes or rivers or other bodies of water around you. Women in particular seem to love this activity, so you’ll scores some serious points with your significant other or perhaps a new date by suggesting a day on the water in a canoe.

Surfing

Surfing will require much more skill and motivation, as this is not easy and probably won’t be the first choice for many people. Also, this will be greatly restricted by location. The Great Lakes are beautiful but you can’t surf there. But the rewards are incredible if you have access to the ocean and you’re committed to learning this amazing skill.

Swimming

If you don’t know how to swim, sign up for classes and learn. If you know how to swim, get off your lazy behind and find a pool or lake or whatever where you can enjoy the water and the sunshine. This is a great social activity and you’ll always get a great workout.

Hiking

You can find great hiking trails anywhere in the country, and this is an activity you can do alone or with others. Sure, you won’t find great views everywhere, but a great hike can be satisfying in so many ways, and regular walking is one of the best ways to improve your fitness and health.

Water-skiing

You’ll need a lake and a boat, this few activities are as fun as water-skiing. It may take you some time to learn how to do this well, but like surfing this can be very rewarding.

Tennis

This is a great, competitive sport you can play outside, and it provides an incredible workout as well. Even if you’re not that good, you’ll need to put in serious effort to compete, and you’ll push yourself much harder than you would otherwise do with most activities. Pick up that old racket, call a friend, and get in the habit of running around the tennis court again.
