Hey JP, I’m in a bind with a lot of injuries this week and hoping you can help me out. I’m in a standard league (QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1WR/RB, TE, DST, K) and need some help with the WR, RB and D/ST positions.
I have Gore, Hightwoer, Nicks, Ochocinco, Holmes, Burleson, McCoy, Sims-Walker and Wallace vying for the RB, Flex and WR positions. Hightower has recently let me down so much, so I’m thinking of putting McCoy in his place and starting Gore, MCCoy, Nicks, Ochocinco and Holmes. But since Hightower is against Detroit perhaps he’ll have a great game. What do you think?
Second, I have the Ravens and Broncos as DST options. Which one do you like?
Then for Kicking I have Carpenter and Gostkowski. Any suggestions?
Last, tight end. Ben Watson or Heath Miller?

Da Kid — I think you have to start Moreno in a great matchup with Buckhalter out. Jackson would normally be my pick, but he has a herniated disc in his back. Therefore, I’d go with Arian Foster who should be carrying the load for HOU and has a great matchup against the Rams. Tough call. At WR, Colstin, Austin, Ocho. At TE, Davis has the better matchup, but I feel like the GB passing game is more consistent, so I’d go with Finley. On DT, which opponent is more of a mess? I think the Lions are worse, so I’d go with ARI, who will be angry after losing to the 49ers.
Caroline — I think your plan is sound. Go with the guys you listed. Hightower might have a nice game, but it’s more likely that he’ll take a back seat to Wells again. On DT, I like Denver due to the matchup against JaMarcus Russell. I’d go with Carpenter at K and Davis at TE due to the matchups.
Nick — Jones and Pierre at RB (Grant’s matchup is terrible). I’d go with Austin, TO and Roddy at WR. MSW and Ward aren’t 100% and Bowe may not even start.
Evan — Rodgers at QB, as he actually has a better matchup than Schaub. I’d only start Schaub if the weather looks terrible in PIT. I’d go with MJD and Ricky at RB, Welker, Jackson, Driver at WR. Winslow at TE. Vikings DT.
Matt — Stick with Warner. The Lions will cure what ails him. I’d stick with AP and Charles. KC has a very nice matchup with CLE. I like Benson too, but Charles is playing well. I’d run Austin, CJ and Ochocinco out there at WR. On defense, I do like the Seahawks this week, but the Lions are more of a mess, so I’d go with ARI.
Ken — Romo is hot and has a pretty good matchup, so I’d go with him despite Eli’s big Week 14. At RB, it’s an easy call — TJ and Moreno. At WR, I’d go with Jennings, Mason and Smith 2.0. At TE, I’d run Davis out there and hope for the best. Kaeding is fine at K. On defense, I’d go with the Cards. The other two matchups are good though.

John, thanks for the response, two things though…
Roddy with playing the Jets and most likely being covered by everybody’s shadow (Darrell Revis). Should I stear clear of that matchup, and is he still a better option than Sims walker or hines ward? I think so, just curious as to your thinking on this one.
Also, you said play pierre thomas. Dallas’s d is pretty good, not great but can be at times and grant is hot now facing a pitt d that has been in shambles. should I really trust pierre? I just never know if he’ll get the ball enough.

Thanks for all your help….I need to get prepared for week 16 and 17. Here are my players..again..Tom Brady,SJax,Steve Smith(Giants), BMarshall, BBerrian, JCharles,Bwells, DBowe,BCelek,NKeading,Philly and Niners D. My positions are as follows: 1QB,2RB,3WR,1TE,1Defense.(Non-PPR) league. I know you mentioned to me to dump one of my defenses. I am hearing a lot of noise on the following players that are avilable: Chris Jennings,AFoster, FDavis,DThomas. Should I be dropping any of my above players. Should I be concerned with a backup QB. Like do you think I should get rid of Wells for Foster or Jennings?

Got a question about my WR and Flex play this week.
I’ve got Chris Johnson and Jamaal Charles playing at RB this week (Also have Benson and Turner on bench unless he plays).
At WR I have Wayne, Colston, Rice, Garcon, Miles Austin, and MSW…which 2 would you start?
For Flex would you go with another WR or with Benson?

Alex — I’d go with Mason, Garcon and Braylon at WR, and Benson, Wells and DeAngelo at RB. I’d run the Saints DT out there.
Nick — I’d rather have a healthy WR in a bad matchup than a hobbled WR (Ward & MSW) in a bad matchup (GB/IND). If either Ward or MSW start practicing and look good, you can start them. The three of them are fairly close, but I’d go with White right now. At RB, Grant is sure to get touches, but the PIT rush defense is terrific. If Mike Bell continues to miss practice, Pierre will get plenty of work.
Josh — I’d stick with Grant. Recent news doesn’t show that Foster is a shoe in for RB1 duties.
DaKid — If you’re out there, I’d go with Jackson over Foster now.
Raj — Don’t cut Wells! He seems to be taking over. Your team looks fine to me. You have the SF defense which has two great matchups in W16 and W17, so if you wanted to cut Philly for Foster, you can. I don’t think it’s necessary given your roster. Foster probably won’t start for you.
Richie Rich — I’d go with Finley. It think GB will have to throw and throw and throw against the Steelers, while the Vikings will rely on their running game. MIN DT has a great matchup this week against CAR. Moreno is a great start this week.
Jason — Wayne, Colston and Benson at your flex. Rice has a tough matchup. Austin could be good too, but I like Wayne and Colston better.

RB = Frank Gore or Rashard Mendenhall or Beanie Wells or Ahmad Bradshaw or Reggie Bush?
W/R = Who from the above? 5 receiving yards = 1 pt. 7 rushing yards = 1 pt.
TE = Jermichael Finley or Kellen Winslow?
DEF = Tenn, SF, Cin, SD, Car or Dallas?
Raj — I’d say Berrian since Percy Harvin is sidelined.
Scorpion — I’d roll with DeSean, Gore and Chris Wells. It’s between Wells and Smith and Wells has a great matchup. I’d go with Winslow at TE. On defense, I’d go with TEN which has the best matchup. (none of those are particularly good options.)
Have 4 WRs, need to start 3. Non-PPR league.

Bren — I’d roll with Austin, Jackson and Moss, unless you’re worried about Moss. Rice is an okay start but he has a bad matchup against a pretty good CAR secondary.
David — Chris Jennings? I’d go with Grant. He doesn’t have a great matchup, but he’ll get some work. At WR, I’d go with Crabtree and Meachem, unless Lance Moore plays. If Moore plays, I’d sit Meachem and start S. Moss. I’d go with Hartley at K.
DaKid — I like Pierre this week, but I’d still go with S. Jackson unless he sounds like he’s really banged up going into the weekend.
I’m in a PPR league and I’m trying to convince myself that Reggie Bush is a better play this week than Tim Hightower despite Hightower’s favorable matchup against the Lions. Your opinion would be appreciated.

Eric — Hightower has the better matchup, but he has fallen out of favor (it seems), so I’d go with Bush, who will get considerable work with Mike Bell sidelined.
dave D — It looks to me that Ganther and Forsett are your best bets — who would have thunk it? I’d run Foster out there at the flex.
Jerry — Romo should rack up good numbers trying to keep up with the Saints. I’d go with Moreno and Wells at RB. Fitz at WR. I guess Cribbs at the other spot. Keep an eye on Fitz and make sure he plays. On DT, I’d go with Philly.

Jason T — I’d run Vincent Jackson, Fitz and Calvin out there. Rice has a bad matchup and I’m a little worried about the weather for Smith. At RB, I’d go with Wells and Charles.
T-Bone — Gore and jackson look like your best starts at RB. I’d go with Mason and Ochocinco at WR and Jacobs at your flex. I’d take the Eagles DT.
