I totally disagree. They have had a bad string of coaches. Bob Davie was terrible. Willingham displayed his problems at Washington as well and now Weis, who thought he could outsmart the opposition. Lou Holtz says plenty of stupid things, but he's right about Notre Dame. If they focus on toughness and discipline, they will always be competitive.

A good coach will have a field day there.

This sounds like just another ND hater that couldn't wait to dance on their grave. He never mentioned the fact that Weis was never a head coach anywhere and was more likely overmatched when challenged with managing the whole team, not just the offense. And he never mentioned Davies being saddled with scholarship reductions in his 2nd season for violations committed by the Holtz regime. Or the fact that Ty Willingham should have been given more time to rebuild the program but was never given that chance because the decision makers fell in love with Weis' superbowl rings. I think Swarbrick has done the right thing. No need to come in and clean house right away. A good manager in a new position will sit back and evaluate first, then decide what needs fixing. Hopefully he finds a coach that can give them some stability.
