Thanks for your help last week.
Few Questions-
For QB- Edwards or Rivers (I have the Pitt D and don’t want to root for Rivers to score & Trent plays Miami)
RB (need 2)- Moreno, Bradshaw, Rice
WR/TE (2 WR, 1 TE, 1 W/T)
WR – Garcon, Burleson, Holmes, TO, Roy Williams
TE – Todd Heap & Zach Miller (Oak)
I don’t like Williams matchup and I don’t know how much Holmes will get the ball because SD gives up so much on the run. I don’t really trust Miller but he has a good matchup.
Thanks.
Dont know who to start at RB this week………I have Sproles,S.Jackson,Lynch,P.Thomas, and Coffee. Need you to pick 2.. And also,Is Antonio Bryant worth picking up? Colston,Lee Evans, and Ochocinco
hey i have atlanta’s defense which i plan on dropping. do you think it owuld be worth picking up the bengals defense just for this week since they are playing the browns?
also knowing mcnabb will be coming back soon would it be worth picking up kolb just in case?
Raj — Favre’s matchup is a little better, but I’d go with Brady. I’d stand pat at WR. At RB, I’d go with Ronnie and Jackson. Week 5, you could probably just cut Kaeding and pick up another kicker.
RJR — Rivers is a far better QB and the SD passing game is clicking. Don’t worry about having the PIT DT as well. At RB, I’d go with Rice for sure. Moreno/Bradshaw is kind of a tough call, but I think Moreno will have a better chance of getting to the endzone. At WR, it’s a tough call, but I’d go with TO for sure. I think he’ll bounce back. After that…man…Holmes and Burleson? I know what you’re saying about Holmes, but SD did okay against the Dolphins last week on the ground, and he had a quiet game against the Bengals. I think he’ll bounce back as well. Burleson has a tough matchup, but he’s been great and the Seahawks will probably have to throw a lot.
Kaya — I like S. Jackson and Coffee this week. Pierre and Sproles both have really tough matchups and the Bills are probably going to work Lynch back in slowly. I wouldn’t cut any of those guys for A. Bryant.
JP.
Ok, I seem to have the worse luck when it comes to picking up good players off waivers. Last week I picked up L. Robinson and now he’s out for the season. I went ahead and picked up P. Garcon since he looked pretty sharp the past 2 games filling in. Should I keep him or pick up one of the following:
Burleson,
S.Moss,
D.Mason,
Sims-Walker,
K.Washington,
Stokley,
E.Bennett,
M.Clayton(Bal),
Breaston,
Gage,
Also, at RB, I dropped Cadillac and picked up Coffee…Good move or dumb? Right now I have Coffee, P.Thomas, R.Bush, T.Jones. Would you consider dropping any one of these guys for T.Choice? Which 2 would you start next week? Thanks and keep up the good work!
Thanks.
My friend offered me a trade- non-PPR.
I would give him:
Michael Turner & Roy Williams
for:
Randy Moss & Owen Daniels
What do you think; should I do it? I want to solidify my WR & TE positions.
Thanks again.
Non PPR
Pick 2
1. Brandon Jacobs
2. Steve Slaton
3. C. Benson (Hes looking solid)
4. Tim Hightower
Pick 1
1. Broncos D
2. 49ers D
Hi JP,
Two more waiver wires just appeared. From my line-up above, would you consider dropping anyone for Steve Slaton or Braylon Edwards?
Thanks,
Raj
Texas — Is this a PPR league? If so, I’d rather have Breaston, S. Moss, Burleson and Sims-Walker than Garcon…definitely Breaston and S. Moss. If it’s not a PPR league, I’d still rather have S. Moss but I know he’s been inconsistent this year.
Caddy for Coffee is fine. I don’t think I’d drop any of those guys for Choice, though NO has a tough rushing matchup this week. Jones has a tough matchup as well. Choice’s matchup isn’t much better. I would definitely start Coffee. After that, I think I’d keep an eye on Thomas this week and start him if he’s healthy. If this is a PPR league, then Bush would be a good start.
RJR — Who else is on your roster?
Raj — Yeah I’d definitely grab Slaton, but I don’t know that I’d cut any of the guys you listed…maybe Sproles. Who else do you have on your roster? Slaton’s schedule is about to get a lot easier.
My Roster:
QB: Rivers & Edwards
WR: TO, Holmes, Burleson, Garcon, Roy Williams
RB: Rice, Moreno, Bradshaw, Turner
TE: Heap & Zach Miller (Oak)
I know Turner has some good looking match-ups coming throughout the season and all of my other RBs split carries and are risky – but both the WR & TE positions are killing me right now I need some consistency. It sounds like a decent trade to me but I am really not sure what to do.
Thanks,
Roy Williams also looked like he might start coming along soon; but I can’t tell if he will be good long-term or not.
1 QB, 2 WR, 2RB, 1 Flex and .2 ppr
Big Ben or Cutler
S. Moss, Nate Burleson have to play bc my other WR’s have byes, but what should I do about my RB’s and Flex?
Thomas Jones, Ray Rice, Fred Jackson, Cedric Benson, Glen Coffee
RJR – I think you’d be trading one problem for another. You get a WR and a TE, but you lose a WR and give up your only RB that isn’t in a timeshare.
Randy — Cutler has a great matchup this week with the Lions. At RB, I’d go with Benson, Coffee and Ray Rice. Benson’s matchup is great, while the matchups for Coffee and Rice are good. I think Jackson will split time with Lynch and TJ has been struggling of late (and has a bad matchup to boot).
DEF – SF or NYJ or GB
Need 2 non-ppr -MJD, Coffee, Brown or PT Cruiser
John,
Still going strong at 3-0! I need a flex and 2 WR’s in a non-ppr league. I have-
Knowshon Moreno
Devone Bess
Pierre Garcon
Johnny Knox
Thanks
I have some tough choices this week and I dont know who to start. (I only get points for yards and TD’s) Here’s my team QB: Schaub, and Rodgers RB: Jones-Drew, McGahee, and Forte WR: Driver, Welker, Walter, Manningham, and Marshall TE: Carlson, and Winslow 1Qb 3WR 2RB 1TE Thanks
GMC — I like the 49ers the best this week, but I wouldn’t cut the Jets, as they have good-to-great matchups the following four weeks. I’d go with MJD and Coffee this week, though you could start Ronnie over Coffee if you are worried about the rookie. PT has a bad matchup.
stewart — non-ppr, I’d go with Moreno at flex, and then Garcon at WR. Tough call between Bess and Knox. Knox has more upside but Bess should get you 50-70 yards for sure.

would u do this trade – non ppr
R brown or pierre t. for fitz or moss
rb- mjd, r brown pt coffee
wr – a johnson, l evans
who would you rather part with and who would you want
Hi JP,
To pick up Slaton the only reasable drop would be Darren Sproles, I can’t really drop Philly b/c they are strong defensively, eventhough this week they have a bye. I am currently using Indapolis against Seattle, and then I will be dropping Indapolis to pick up a WR and drop Nate Keeding b/c he will be on a bye. So it all comes down to who has more value projected in the remainig games……..I am in a Non-PPR league and hold #2 on the waiver wire status out of 12 people. So Not sure if I should hold out or not. I am SUPER CONFUSED…..The other thing is that Slaton has a bye in week 10, so I will be having to make some other moves…
Thanks,
Raj
Evan — Neither QB matchup is good. I’d go with Rodgers because I think he’s the better player, but an argument could be made for Schaub who is playing at home. But I just don’t think that the Raiders’ offense can keep up and force HOU to throw. At RB, I think I’d go with MJD and Forte. MJD’s matchup is bad, but he’s MJD and needs to be started. Forte has a great matchup against DET. Tough to bench McGahee, but them’s the breaks. AT WR, these are pretty tough calls. I like Driver, Walter, Manningham and Marshall this week. Marshall has a nice matchup but has been sketchy this year, so Driver, Walter and Manningham? If you want to start Marshall, I guess I’d sit Manningham. At TE, neither matchup is good, but Winslow’s is better.
GMC — Yes, I would trade Brown or Pierre for Fitz or Moss. I’d prefer Fitz because I think he’s more dependable, but R. Moss would do as well. I’d prefer to move PT than Brown because I think his role (Thomas’s) is more up in the air.
Raj — I recommend you cut Sproles and go for Slaton. With LT2 back at practice, this is pretty much a no-brainer for me. Slaton was a top 15 pick this year and had two really rough matchups to start the season. Chris Brown fumbled at the goal line so there is a possibility that he will get some short ydg work as well. I’d definitely grab him. I checked with Footballguys and they have Slaton ranked RB14 for the rest of the season. Sproles is ranked RB32, so it’s a no-brainer for them as well.
I have a RB delima on 2 teams this week. I am completely brain fried.
1. Need 2 out of: SLATON, HOU…R. BROWN, MAI… F. JACKSON, BUF…COFFEE, SF…CHOICE, DAL
2. Need 2 out of: R. WILLIAMS,MAI…HIGHTOWER, ARI…F. TAYLOR, N.E. …COFFEE, S.F.
Hey John,
With the exception of DeSean Jackson last week you were spot on:
To be fair, you did pick Jackson originally but with the news of Westbrook out, and I picked up McCoy, and he had a backup QB, and he had a groin injury, and with news of him not starting – it simply made sense
Here are my picks for week 4 – please advise
League roster: PPR 1QB 2RB 2WR 1FLEX 1K 1D
QB – Aaron Rodgers
RB1 – Steve Slaton
RB2 – Joseph Addai
WR1 – Andre Johnson
WR2 – Mike Sims-Walker (Waiver Wire pick up)
FLEX – Willis McMahee
TE – Vernon Davis (Waiver Wire pick up)
K – Rob Bironas
D – Cincinatti (Waiver Wire pick up)
Bench
1. Mario Manningham – I played last week. Blowout and the running game doing well only produced decent numbers. I’m afraid of a repeat.
2. Heath Miller – Solid production from a non elite TE. Gambling on Vernon Davis’s upside versus a handful of catches for minimal yards w/ Miller.
3. Dwayne Bowe – Bad matchup. Hamstring Injury.
4. DeSean Jackson – Bye
5. Leon Washington – I wish he got more touches. A dynamic player with loads of potential. My sleeper pick.
I forgot another bench:
6. Steelers – I don’t like the matchup (Chargers)and without Troy Polamalu they seem to not be running on 8 cylinders. I picked up the Bengals simply because of the great matchup (Browns)
Johnny Knox has a favorable matchup this week against DET. Would you start him over Lee Evans at the 3rd receiver?PPR
Good Morning JP!
Still winning with your advice, 3-0 baby!
Your information is so good, it feels like I am cheating.
I was wondering if you could tell me why Andre Johnson is projected to score very few fantasy points this week (CBS = 3). Is it because the Raiders are not expected to keep the game close, therefore, Houston won’t need to pass as much?
At WR I have R.Moss, A.Johnson, and M.Manningham. Should I even consider subing Manningham for Johnson?
Also do you think my RBs R.Rice and R.Grant are preferred over F.Jackson, and/or M.Lynch?
Thank You for your advice, I really appreciate it,
Bolt
Wide receiver dilemma:
*Roy Williams vs. Denver
-or-
*Nate Washington vs. Jax
Who should start?
Thanks in advance.
Bolt, I can’t say why CBS has Andre Johnson at such a low projection. ESPN is projecting 14 points. Keep in mind that the Raiders actually beat Houston just last December and match up surprisingly well so it’s not quite the no-brainer it seems at first glance.
Gary — PPR?
Brian — Those picks look good. I might start Mario over Addai, but it’s too close to trump your pick.
Kaya — I’d probably stick with Evans. Knox only got three targets last week.
Bolt Power — I might go with Jackson over Grant, since Grant has the Williams Wall and isn’t very involved in the Packer passing game. I’d definitely start AJ over Mario. They probably have a low projection for Andre because he’s facing arguably the best cornerback in the game in Nnamdi Asomugha. If you remember, the Raiders shut down the Texans late last season. I’d still go with AJ though. Tough to bench your studs.
Andy — I’d go with Roy, despite a tough matchup with Champ Bailey.
Hey John need some wide recevier advice for week 4. I’m in a non-ppr league. My wide receivers are Wayne, Colston, Manningham, Cotchery, and Sims-Walker. Which 3 would you start this week? Thanks in advance!!
John, need some help w/lineup. PPR
QB-Flacco, Sanchez (can pick up J.Campbell on waiver??)drop?
RB-(need 2)Fred Jackson, L.Tomlinson, M. Lynch, Sproles,D.Williams(bye),and Choice. I have to drop 1 by Sun.Also Coffee is available.
WR-(need 3)N.Burleson, T.O., M.Sims-Walker,A. Boldin(bye)Any sleepers?????
TE-J.Witten
K-A.Vinatieri
I’m 0-3 to start. Any advice will help. Thanks.
DEF/ST-Eagles(bye) SanFran 49rs
Tim Hightower available on waiver
Drop SanFran for Denver on Def/St?
Sorry i’m in PANIC Mode.
Do you think it would be a good move to drop Zach Miller (Oak) for Dante Rosario? (non-PPR) I know the the passing game is not much better in Carolina but I need a new tight end and there are not many options. If not do you think Fells or Robert Royal would do any better?
Thanks.
Hey JP,
So I should defiantely pull the trigger on Darren Sproles Right…to get Steve Slaton. Just a reminder that my other RB’s are Steve Jackson and Ronnie Brown. It’s an amazing debate, two guys at my office think Daren Sproles is about to Burst b/c even with LT back, he will probably still produce. Is Houstan a pass first and run second team, with Matt Shaub or will Philip Rivers target Vincent Jackson and Sproles this year,b/c Chambers is not going crap. I have to make the decision tonight when the waiver wire status comes of Slaton. Sorry for asking again, but I want to be certain that you think its a no brainer. Raj
Jason — I’d go with the three hot hands: Wayne, Colston and Cotchery.
Seb — Campbell has a nice matchup, but I have more confidence in Flacco. I think I’d go with F. Jackson and Coffee at RB, cutting Choice since it looks like Barber will be back. At WR, your three are all decent starts. Probably not going to find anything better on the waiver wire. SF is my top DTBWW pick this week. Start ‘em.
RJR — I’d rather have Z. Miller than Rosario, but I understand your concern. It’s close, so if you’re gut is telling you to go with Rosario, go ahead and pull the trigger. But be warned, he was a one-week wonder last year and Z. Miller is a much better TE. He just needs better play from his QB.
Raj — Definitely grab Slaton. Sproles’ upside is limited as long as LT2 is there. You could cut Favre since you’re going to start Brady every week at QB. I’d rather have Sproles than Favre.
This Q&A thread is now closed. I’m heading out of town for the weekend. Good luck!
