You're damn right that was a terrible signing. Before that, Dunn had never hit above .266. You're damn right that was a terrible signing, ad naseum. Dunn has said in interviews that he "checks out" as the season winds down. If you think a guy that strikes out 170 time a year, is mediocre in the outfield, and only hits homers is worth $10 million a year, then you could be a GM of a team as good as the Nationals. Just because he's suddenly learned to take a ball and is batting over .280 doesn't mean it was a good signing at the time. There weren't many big bats on the market during the offseason.
