I agree, for the most part. I would have like to have seen the Bucks hold onto Sessions or try to get something for Villanueva -- they just needed to make him an RFA. Jefferson turned out to be a good move.

Though the Bucks wouldn't be where they are today if they hadn't landed Jennings in the draft or Salmons before the trade deadline. And Bogut's transformation into one of the league's best two-way big men was probably the biggest factor in the team's success. The only move of those three directly related to spending is the Salmons acquisition.

John - When the Bucks let Charlie V go without anything, I didnt really care. I am from Wisconsin and do live there right now. But Charlie V wasnt worth the $4mil of his last year. Detroit overpaid! LOL. And Sessions? I have no clue on why other teams didnt make a move. Sessions can play. Jefferson? He made too much money. Theres no way teams were going to send Bucks anything good back knowing they wanted to get rid of his contract badly. Though Jefferson played well in Milwaukee, at $15+ a year, he wasnt worth it. The Bucks are way better now with how these transactions turned out.

I wonder though if the Celtics winning mentality and defensive mind set will rub off on Wallace. Wallace is known as an underachiever, posting up only when he feels like it and electing to stand by the 3-point line and launch three’s. If anyone can set any professionalism into Wallace’s game its Garnett and the Celtics.

Larry -- (Is this Larry Harris?) You're right about Richard Jefferson. I didn't do my due diligence in double-checking what was in my head -- that RJ made the All-Star Game once in his career. Here's his page at Basketball Reference if you're interested. At the bottom of every page there's a list of all of the player's accomplishements.

Sam -- I look at the Amir Johnson trade as a separate transaction. I like the pickup. I don't see Bowen or Thomas playing too many minutes for the Bucks. I don't think it was a bad idea to trade RJ away, but I thought they could at least get a late first round pick out of it.

About Jefferson, they needed to dump his salary. When you look at it, it really wasn't a terribly move. They got Kurt Thomas, who is a hot commodity when it comes to contract dumping, Kurt Thomas is the guy, as Theo Ratliff was a few years ago. Bruce Bowen, often recognized as one of the premier defensive players in basketball, they acquired. While he is pretty old, he is still valuable on the court, and is good for mentoring young players. Oberto they traded for Amir Johnson, a guy with a ton of potential. This is similar to what the Nets did to trade Jefferson to the Bucks, getting Bobby Simmons and Yi. Though Simmons and Yi are much more productive, for a contract dumping scenario, the Bucks got a great defensive player, a valuable bench player (Thomas) and a player with a lot of potential to be a very good player in the league (Johnson). So yes, it wasn't a good move from the standpoint of the Bucks being competitive next year, but it's better this way than being way over the Luxury Tax line.

I agree with your assesment of the Bucks for the most part, but I'm a stickler for facts if one is gonna post opinions and expect others to believe them as credible. I'm kinda so so on the Jefferson salary dump. I don't think the Bucks will be able to get anybody with his star power unless they get lucky in the draft or pull off another trade, but he's probably not in long term plans and they aren't gonna compete anytime real soon with or without him, but he was never an All Star. He was in the dunk contest and played in the Celebrity game one year, but i'm 95% sure he was never an all star even during his best years. Gotta get facts straight. If i'm wrong shame on me, but I'm almost positve.

Hey John, this is an excellent top ten list. I completely agree with your #1 pick of Trevor Ariza. You from defending champ to the possibility of playing with a Yao and Tmac -less Rockets, and you have to live in Houston. think the Lakers made out in this "trade", good riddance Ariza. You can cross-post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and link back to your site. We are trying to create a directory for top ten lists where people can find your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
