this isnt a battle between canada and america, its one incident that was wrong. thats all it is, disagreeing with it is stupid. mlb fu@*ed up and should have tried to make up for it but they dont care, not the end of the world but shouldnt be forgotten

I know this has nothing to do with sports but I love when people from other countries think Americans are ignorant for not agreeing with the way they think or their beliefs.

I have to agree with Morneau on this point. I love the Star Spangled Banner as much as anyone, and have continuously fought for it, so if I were to put myself in Morneau’s shoes, I would feel slighted if these roles were reversed. You can get the President to throw out the first pitch, but not a single person capable of singing O’ Canada? And, regardless of what we say, we as Americans would not have stood for this. However, you can bet your ass that if the roles were reversed we would have had a star singing our National Anthem in Canada.

the anthem was booed a couple times during the hockey playoffs a few years ago, and the canadian anthem was also booed in the states that same playoff season. so basically what i am saying is thats a stupid point to mention. americans would have gone nuts if it was the other way around in Toronto. and by the way, after the american anthem was booed, canadian hockey players were shown on the big screen right before the national anthems, reminding fans to respect the national anthems of both countries.

Anthony…good point. I hope when Morneau goes to a hockey game, he is as disappointed when fans boo our anthem up there, as he is about the Canadian anthem for the all-star game.
