I'm glad I'm not the only one that has noticed what I call the disgusting slacker look that has taken over MLB baseball players uniforms. Since these guys are employees of a company or team and earn alot of money, I don't think it is asking too much for them to at least put on an appearance that reflects dignity and a respect for the traditional uniform which included stirrups and a well fitting uniform. Team means common standard uniform and individuality should be limited, and the uniforms should be based on MLB standards that insure a respectable appearance.

Taylor, holy crap, you're right. I researched current playing wearing stirrups and Pierre did not show up anywhere I looked. I tried finding a good picture of him and this one did the job. Still, I looked really hard and I thought the white part was just part of his cleats. Good eye.

Chris, you said that the only thing Juan Pierre is missing is a pair of stirrups. Take a closer look at the picture, he's wearing stirrups.

Thanks for the link to Talk-Sports. We returned the favor by linking all our Juan Pierre pages back to you. May we ask how to get a link in your blogroll-sidebar.

Chris, you make me laugh; very funny article. Pierre's uniform and style of play reminds me of Lloyd "little poisen" Waner that played for the Pirates in the early 1900's. Waner was a small punch-and-judy hitter that sprayed the ball all over the field. Only difference was that he hit .350
Speaking of uniforms, I can remember the days of Charlie O's (A's) that doned yellow and green jerseys (with stirrups) with white shoes and the putried unies of the Astros of the same era

Keeping up with your favorite teams look has become an expensive option. you have to purchase a fitted game cap, a fitted batting practice cap, home and away jerseys, and the alternate third jersey. You will need a stimulus package just to keep your favorite teams wardrobe.

Rooting for professional sports teams has become a very expensive option. We have fitted game caps, fitted batting practice caps, home and away jerseys, and don't forget the alternate third jersey. I need a stimulus package just to keep with my team's wardrobe.
