I do like the Curry pick if signed ahead of time. He is the only player that would give them leverage to trade down. Nobody in the top 8 needs a QB, but Cle and now KC are running the 3-4 and need to stock LB's. J Peterson is always hurt. Every team except maybe STL could use an impact LB and may get a man crush on the draft's best player. Then we could get Stafford cheaper and get more picks. Also Curry played on-the-ball SLB, which sounds exacty what a MLB does in a base 4-3, which makes him much more valuable
The reason I don't think that Stafford is "The Guy" is I can't remember the last Junior QB in this generation to have an impact, except maybe M. Vick who never won consistently either. If he was a senior, i would feel much better about his skills, decisions, and ability to handle a $35M check.

Drafting Stafford may remain a possibility, but the Lions brass realizes that they are not a contender next year and will be drafting in the top 10 again next year. That being said, the Lions NEED to upgrade their complimentary pieces and defense before drafting that QB of the future NEXT YEAR! I would still like to see the Lions try and work a trade for a good QB that is already in the league. Leinart or D. Anderson would both be available for far less of a commitment than the #1 overall pick and all his guaranteed money.
