I say take him if your the Giants ... he will put people in the seats. The yankees have first rights to everyone as we all know, but if I'm SF .... it's been a bit quite since Bonds. Mix him in with those great young pitchers. It's worth the risk. there are a lot of latino's in NoCal as well as SoCal. And you will be keeping him out of your main rival the Dodgers ???

They should just stay away from Manny. The Giants have emerged as the only team other than the Dodgers interested in Manny. Interesting, seeing as how they're in the same division. Seems like a see-through plan orchestrated by both the Giants and Scott Boras to raise Manny's price.

Dodgers GM Ned Colletti has gotten smarter over this offseason. He's re-signed both Casey Blake and Rafael Furcal, players excited about playing for the team. He's also managed to dump Andruw Jones, freeing up loads of money. With Lowe, Nomar, Jones, Kent, and numerous others on their way out, the Dodgers have two more large signing in their horizon.

What will probably happen:

1. The Dodgers sign Manny to a three-year $70 million contract. I doubt he will take the two years, and if so, that contract would border around $50 million.
2. The Dodgers sign a big-name pitcher like Ben Sheets. The Dodgers are notorious for signing star pitchers that immediately turn sour once arriving in L.A. However, I think they got over that curse with Lowe, who pitched great for the Blue. Plus, Ben Sheets has already had his share of injuries, and is reportedly almost back to 100%. They'll sign a guy like Sheets for two or three years.

When it comes down to it, I think Manny would rather play in Los Angeles than San Francisco. Truth be told, whichever team signs Ramirez in the NL West will win the division.
